• • As a Software Principal Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to architect and build sophisticated systems and software solutions meticulously aligned with customer business objectives, needs, and the broader business environment. You will be instrumental in designing and constructing next-generation AI data platform storage, focusing on mission-critical components that are fundamental to our AI strategy. This role offers the unique challenge of addressing state-of-the-art problems related to scale, performance, and reliability in a complex storage system. You will take ownership of issues from inception to resolution, encompassing the entire lifecycle of design, implementation, rigorous testing, seamless deployment, and ongoing supportability within a cluster storage system. A significant part of your role will involve building and hardening distributed services, ensuring their durability, consistency, efficient replication, robust data paths, reliable metadata management, effective control planes, intelligent scheduling, precise placement, and seamless lifecycle management. You will be tasked with optimizing performance across all critical domains: compute, memory, I/O, networking (including advanced technologies like RDMA), and storage media (NVMe/SSD/HDD/AFA). Your efforts will directly drive significant improvements in latency and throughput through data-driven profiling. Furthermore, you will enhance system reliability by implementing advanced observability, telemetry, failure injection techniques, chaos testing methodologies, and automated remediation strategies, thereby elevating the standards of serviceability and supportability. Collaboration will be key, as you will work within agile scrum teams, producing clear and concise design documentation, Product Requirements Documents (PRDs), and Requests for Comments (RFCs). You will actively participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and mentoring your peers. Your commitment to product quality will be demonstrated through the development of automated tests, the maintenance of robust CI/CD pipelines, ensuring build hygiene, and contributing to release engineering best practices. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in upholding security and compliance standards, including TLS, authentication/authorization, cryptography, FIPS, and STIG/NIST best practices, championing a secure-by-default engineering approach.
