📋 Description

• As a Software Engineer on the Core Infrastructure team at Poshmark, you will play a critical role in shaping the developer experience and enabling scalable, reliable software delivery across the organization. Your work will directly impact how efficiently other engineering teams build, test, deploy, and maintain services, making you a key contributor to Poshmark’s technical velocity and platform stability.
• Day to day, you will write high-quality code in Ruby (JRuby), Java, and Python to develop APIs, frameworks, libraries, and shared services used by other teams. You will design and improve system architecture for horizontal scalability, diagnose and resolve performance issues across all application tiers, and collaborate closely with DevOps, security, and SRE teams to embed reliability, compliance, and observability into the platform. You will also leverage AI tools to enhance productivity and define engineering best practices that elevate team-wide effectiveness.
• The Core Infrastructure team is central to Poshmark’s evolution from a monolithic JRuby application to a modern, polyglot microservices architecture. You’ll join a team focused on enabling engineering excellence through shared tooling, frameworks, and platform capabilities that reduce friction and increase confidence in software delivery.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in distributed systems, backend engineering, and platform development while gaining ownership over critical infrastructure components. You’ll have the opportunity to influence technical direction, mentor peers through best practices, and grow into a trusted expert in your domain—supported by structured 6- and 12-month milestones focused on integration, skill development, ownership, and career growth planning.

🎯 Requirements

• Experience with any of: Ruby (JRuby), Java, Python, MongoDB, OpenSearch, Redis, RabbitMQ, containerization, and *nix environments
• A solid foundation in computer science with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design
• Ability to write high-quality code in Ruby (JRuby), Java, and Python
• Experience developing APIs, frameworks, libraries, and services for use by other developers
• Skills in designing and improving architecture for horizontal scalability
• Experience resolving performance issues across all tiers of an application
