This role offers a unique opportunity to blend your passion for technology with the impactful mission of improving education through innovative digital tools.
- • As a Software Engineer, you will engage in the full software development lifecycle, contributing to both the creation of entirely new projects from the ground up and the enhancement of our existing, robust codebase. Your responsibilities will span across the technical spectrum, including developing critical back-end infrastructure, implementing complex application logic, and crafting intuitive user interfaces that define our product experience.
- • You will be a key player in project planning and execution, tasked with providing accurate time and effort estimates, evaluating the technical feasibility of proposed features, and researching and assessing new platforms and technologies to ensure our solutions remain cutting-edge and efficient.
- • Collaboration is at the heart of this role. You will work closely with a team of talented engineers, product managers, and designers, fostering a dynamic environment where ideas are shared freely and innovation thrives. Effective communication across multiple development teams will be essential for the successful design, development, and release of high-quality, impactful products.

This structure is designed to balance in-person collaboration with individual focus and work-life integration.
- • You will contribute to a product that makes a tangible difference in users' lives, whether they are students mastering vocabulary, professionals refining their writing, or curious individuals exploring the nuances of language. Your work will directly support the literacy and communication goals of millions worldwide.
- • The role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and scalable code. You will have the opportunity to tackle challenging technical problems and contribute to the evolution of a beloved and widely-used digital dictionary and thesaurus.
- • We encourage engineers to bring their best ideas forward, experiment with new approaches, and continuously learn and grow within a supportive and collaborative team environment. Your contributions will be vital in maintaining and advancing the technical excellence of Dictionary.com and its associated platforms, ensuring they remain reliable, performant, and user-friendly for our vast audience.
- • This is more than just a coding job; it's a chance to be part of an EdTech leader, IXL Learning, which is dedicated to making a positive impact on education.
