  • • Build and operate distributed systems and services handling billions of transactions per day to support Abnormal’s AI-powered cybersecurity platform.
  • • Design, develop, and maintain storage and retrieval infrastructure for the Aggregates Platform, enabling ingestion pipelines and detection algorithms to process massive volumes of data.
  • • Implement scalable, low-latency data architectures that evolve with Abnormal’s cellular architecture and growing customer demands.
  • • Work with streaming data systems such as Kafka, Spark, and Map/Reduce to process and analyze large-scale datasets in real time.
  • • Utilize large-scale data storage technologies including DynamoDB, Aerospike, Redis, and Databricks to ensure efficient data persistence and retrieval.
  • • Drive projects focused on scalability, reliability, and cost optimization across the data infrastructure stack.
  • • Collaborate closely with customer-facing teams to understand use cases, scale requirements, and operational constraints, then translate them into technical solutions.
  • • Participate in the full hiring lifecycle, including technical interviews, candidate assessments, and cultural fit evaluations to attract and select top engineering talent.
  • • Serve as a talent magnet by demonstrating technical excellence and clear communication during interviews, helping to close high-potential candidates for the Aggregates team.
  • • Operate in a fast-paced, scrappy environment where project requirements are not always fully defined; proactively investigate problems and determine next steps without detailed PRDs.
  • • Contribute beyond core backend responsibilities by occasionally assisting with frontend bugs, customer calls, or cross-functional initiatives as needed.
  • • Maintain strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate across a fully distributed remote team, including writing detailed project proposals and participating in Zoom discussions.
  • • Apply best practices in software development to ensure clean, maintainable, and production-ready code in a high-stakes cybersecurity environment.
  • • Leverage AI-native tools like Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and Claude to accelerate development, improve code quality, and enhance engineering efficiency.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 3-5 years of overall software engineering experience
  • • Experience building and operating distributed systems at scale (~billions of transactions per day)
  • • Hands-on experience with streaming data systems (Kafka, Spark, Map/Reduce)
  • • Proven experience with large-scale data storage systems (DynamoDB, Aerospike, Redis, Databricks)
  • • Strong understanding of software engineering best practices
  • • Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments with minimal documentation and self-direct project work
