- • Join Commerce, the parent company of BigCommerce, Feedonomics, and Makeswift, as a Software Engineer II - Infrastructure, and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of commerce through an open, AI-driven ecosystem.
- • You will be an integral part of the Delivery Acceleration Team (DAT), a dynamic, distributed group focused on empowering the entire Engineering organization.
- • Your primary mission will be to maintain and enhance Commerce’s Cloud Development Environment, a critical system designed to boost engineer productivity and remove technical impediments.
- • This role offers a unique opportunity to directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of hundreds of engineers by ensuring their development environments are robust, reliable, and performant.
- • You will be responsible for the upkeep and continuous improvement of the existing Cloud Development Environment, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of a fast-paced engineering department.
- • A significant aspect of your role will involve contributing to the development of new tools and services that streamline the developer experience.
- • You will maintain and evolve Ruby services that are instrumental in orchestrating the company's infrastructure, ensuring smooth and automated operations.
- • A key project will be contributing to a brand-new Golang CLI tool, which will be the primary interface for developers to manage and interact with their development environments.
- • You will work hands-on with a modern technology stack, including Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Nomad for orchestration, Consul for service discovery, Vault for secrets management, Terraform for infrastructure as code, Packer for image building, Puppet for configuration management, and CircleCI for continuous integration.
- • Your responsibilities will extend to educating fellow engineers on the effective usage of these tools and advocating for process improvements that enhance developer workflows.
- • Providing essential support for the development environment will be a core duty, ensuring that any issues are addressed promptly and effectively.
- • You will be tasked with creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for technical aspects and user flows of the features and tools you develop and manage.
- • Collaboration is key; you will work closely with a distributed team spread across different time zones and geographies, fostering a truly global engineering culture.
- • You will actively participate in defining the team’s strategic roadmap, contributing your insights and expertise to guide future development efforts.
