- • Architect, design, build, deploy, and maintain Model Serving infrastructure that supports Abnormal Security’s world-class Detection Engine using industry-standard AI tools.
- • Own end-to-end projects to scale model serving and data processing services to handle 10x the current traffic volume while ensuring stability and performance.
- • Design and maintain real-time and near real-time streaming pipelines and online feature serving services critical to email and cloud-based attack detection.
- • Collaborate closely with Machine Learning Engineers and Data Science teams to distill feedback, align on strategic priorities, and execute on model platform improvements.
- • Build scalable, customer-centric solutions with a first-principles approach, focusing on solving meaningful, real-world problems for security operations.
- • Operate autonomously in a fast-paced environment, iterating quickly on novel problems with minimal supervision while balancing immediate needs with long-term scalability.
- • Apply strong computer science fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and performance optimization to enhance system efficiency and reliability.
- • Maintain large-scale distributed systems on cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) with adherence to cloud engineering best practices.
- • Work effectively within distributed teams using asynchronous and written communication to drive alignment and deliver results across time zones.
- • Continuously seek to increase impact and responsibility by owning high-leverage initiatives that elevate the entire Detection Team’s velocity and confidence.
- • Translate complex technical challenges into manageable steps, prioritizing solutions that enable faster feature development for ML and Data Science stakeholders.
- • Ensure the Model Platform remains stable, responsive, and reliable to support rapid iteration cycles for AI-driven threat detection models.
- • Contribute to the evolution of the platform by incorporating feedback loops from model trainers and data scientists to improve data freshness, latency, and throughput.
- • Participate in on-call rotations and incident response for critical model serving systems to ensure high availability and rapid recovery.
- • Document system architectures, operational procedures, and decision rationale to enable knowledge sharing and reduce team dependency.
- • Proactively identify bottlenecks in data pipelines or model inference workflows and implement optimizations to reduce latency and increase throughput.
- • Evaluate and integrate new AI engineering tools to accelerate development cycles and improve engineering outcomes across the team.
🎯 Requirements
- • 4+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or in a similar role, with hands-on experience in building data-focused solutions.
- • Proficiency leveraging AI tools to accelerate engineering outcomes through discovery, design, implementation, and rollout of software systems.
- • Experience maintaining large-scale distributed systems on cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, including strong grasp of cloud-based engineering best practices.
- • Familiarity with maintaining real-time and near real-time data pipelines or streaming services.
- • Experience working with distributed teams, proficient in asynchronous and written communication.
- • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, breaking down complex challenges into manageable steps.
- • Strong fundamentals in computer science, data structures, and performance optimization.
- • BS degree in Computer Science, Applied Sciences, Information Systems, or other related engineering field.

- • Base salary range of $149,200–$214,500 USD.
