📋 Description

• As a Software Engineer Intern at Deliveroo Holdings plc, you will contribute to a global, three-sided marketplace that serves millions of customers, riders, and partners daily, directly impacting how people shop and eat through scalable, real-time technology solutions.
• You will be fully embedded in a production engineering squad at Deliveroo’s London HQ, working on real-world features alongside full-time engineers with mentorship, gaining hands-on experience in building and deploying systems that power the company’s growth.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include developing, maintaining, and deploying technical features using modern tooling such as GenAI-assisted coding; participating in squad ceremonies and collaborative problem-solving; learning about the systems you contribute to through feedback and coaching; engaging in intern-specific programming like leadership sessions and social events; and presenting your summer project to engineering leadership at the end of the internship.
• The Engineering team at Deliveroo operates with high standards, collaboration, and continuous learning, fostering a low-hierarchy, high-ownership environment where interns are trusted to solve meaningful problems at scale and see the impact of their work quickly.
• Throughout the internship, you will deepen your technical expertise in core computer science fundamentals, gain exposure to Deliveroo’s tech stack (Go, Ruby/Rails, Python, Scala, or Rust), strengthen your skills in databases, version control, and testing, and develop professional competencies in communication, ownership, and systems thinking within a global engineering culture.

🎯 Requirements

• Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science (or equivalent) with a graduation date between Autumn 2026 and Summer 2027.
• Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and experience writing clean code with Git and unit testing.
• Experience writing web-based applications in any language, with interest in learning Deliveroo’s core stack (Go, Ruby/Rails, Python, Scala, or Rust).
• Practical experience working with databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, AWS, or SQL.
• Ability to join in person at Deliveroo’s London Cannon Bridge House office for the duration of the Summer 2026 program.
• (Nice to have) Prior software engineering internship or relevant technical placement.
• (Nice to have) Participation in hackathons, open-source contributions, technical research, or leadership in campus technical societies.
• (Nice to have) Interest or exposure to service-oriented architecture, APIs, system monitoring, or continuous integration.
