đź“‹ Description

  • • Join Twilio Inc. as a Software Engineer (L3) in a fully remote capacity within India, contributing to the forefront of communication technology. This pivotal role is instrumental in developing and enhancing a highly scalable, reliable, and efficient data platform designed to unlock deep insights from vast, distributed datasets. As a key member of the Data Platform team, you will be at the heart of strategic decision-making for Twilio and its extensive customer base, directly impacting how businesses interact and how developers build personalized customer experiences.
  • • Your primary responsibility will be to architect, build, and maintain robust data architectures, including databases and large-scale processing systems. This involves the end-to-end design and implementation of efficient data pipelines crucial for acquiring, storing, and analyzing massive datasets. You will be expected to ensure the continuous availability and integrity of these critical data pipelines and systems, minimizing downtime and data loss.
  • • Collaboration is key in this role. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to thoroughly understand their data requirements and translate these needs into effective technical solutions. This includes engaging with product managers, data scientists, and other engineers to ensure the data platform meets the evolving needs of the business.
  • • A significant aspect of your work will involve optimizing and fine-tuning the performance of our data solutions. This requires a deep understanding of data processing frameworks and database technologies to ensure our platform operates at peak efficiency, handling high volumes of data with low latency.
  • • You will be tasked with troubleshooting and resolving complex data-related issues in a timely and effective manner, often under pressure. This includes diagnosing problems, implementing fixes, and performing root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • • Developing and maintaining comprehensive documentation for all data processes, pipelines, and architectures is essential. This ensures knowledge transfer, facilitates onboarding of new team members, and supports ongoing maintenance and development efforts.
  • • Staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in data engineering is a core expectation. You will be encouraged to research, evaluate, and propose new tools and techniques that can enhance our data platform's capabilities and efficiency.
  • • This role offers a unique opportunity to influence technical direction and guide other engineers. You will contribute to key technical decisions for the organization and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
  • • The data platform you will help build is a strategic differentiator for Twilio, enabling data-driven decisions across the company and empowering our customers with actionable insights. Your work will directly contribute to Twilio's mission of revolutionizing how the world interacts.
  • • You will be involved in ensuring the regulatory compliance of our data systems, implementing automated data deletion and retention workflows to meet standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI. This requires a strong understanding of data governance principles and best practices.
  • • You will leverage your expertise in backend technologies, data infrastructure, and data platforms to design and implement solutions that are not only functional but also secure, scalable, and maintainable.
  • • This position is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a remote-first environment, values collaboration, and is passionate about building impactful data solutions. You will be part of a global team that embraces diversity and inclusion, contributing to a vibrant work culture where your career growth is in your hands.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 5–7 years of technical experience in Backend technologies with a focus on Data Infrastructure, Data Platforms, and Data Governance.
  • • Proficiency in high-level programming languages such as Scala, Python, and Java.
  • • Strong knowledge of metadata management, including data classification, data quality, data lineage, and data cataloging.
  • • Technical understanding of needle-moving technologies like Kafka, Spark, dbt, Hudi-based data lake, Presto, ETL tools, low-latency data stores, multiple data warehouses, and a data catalog.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Competitive pay and comprehensive healthcare benefits.
  • • Generous paid time off and ample parental and wellness leave.
  • • Retirement savings program and other location-specific offerings.
