• As a Software Engineer on our Lending Products team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of small business finance. You will be instrumental in developing and scaling our core lending platform, which underpins our entire suite of financial offerings. This is an opportunity to work on products that have a direct and tangible impact on the success and growth of countless small businesses across the nation.
• Your responsibilities will span the entire product lifecycle, from conception and design to implementation and iteration. You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to translate business requirements and user needs into robust, scalable, and user-friendly financial products. This includes contributing to the development of new lending products from the ground up, as well as continuously experimenting with and refining our existing offerings to enhance the end-user experience.
• A significant aspect of this role involves owning and improving our core lending platform infrastructure. You will be tasked with identifying opportunities to enhance system reliability, accelerate product development cycles, and ensure the platform can gracefully handle increasing scale and complexity. This could involve optimizing database performance, implementing robust monitoring and alerting systems, refactoring critical services, or introducing new technologies to improve efficiency and maintainability.
• You will be a key contributor to the user journey for all of Parafin's financing products. This means deeply understanding the needs of small business owners and translating those needs into intuitive and efficient digital experiences. You will be involved in designing and building the workflows that allow businesses to apply for funding, manage their finances, and access savings tools with ease.
• Collaboration is at the heart of our engineering culture. You will work in a highly cross-functional environment, engaging with stakeholders across the company, including business development, operations, and compliance, to ensure our products meet both market demands and regulatory requirements.

This includes debugging complex issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing preventative measures to ensure system stability.

• You will collaborate with team members and stakeholders across the company to help design and build new products and experiments, driving innovation and expanding our product offerings.
• You will be responsible for ensuring the security, compliance, and performance of our financial products, adhering to industry best practices and regulatory standards.
• You will participate in an on-call rotation to ensure the continuous availability and performance of our critical lending systems.
• You will contribute to a culture of technical excellence, sharing knowledge and best practices with your colleagues.

🎯 Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in a backend engineering role, with a strong preference for experience in a product-focused environment.
• Proven ability to design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable backend systems.
• Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and system design.
• Eagerness to contribute to the development of new products and features from the ground up, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Experience with [mention specific relevant technologies if known, e.g., Python, Go, Java, SQL, cloud platforms like AWS/GCP/Azure] is a plus.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team.
