- • AeroVect Inc. is at the forefront of revolutionizing ground handling operations within the aviation industry through the power of autonomy. As a Series A company, we are backed by prominent venture capital investors specializing in aviation and autonomous driving technologies. Our innovative solutions are already being adopted by some of the world's largest airlines and ground handling providers, fundamentally changing how day-to-day operations are managed. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Software Engineer, Perception (Intern) for Summer 2026 to join our dynamic team in South San Francisco, working in a hybrid capacity.
- • This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the development and enhancement of the perception systems that are the backbone of the AeroVect Driver, our cutting-edge autonomous vehicle platform designed for airport operations. You will immerse yourself in the entire perception stack, engaging with projects that span critical areas such as Computer Vision, Sensor Processing, Sensor Fusion, and Machine Learning. The challenges you will tackle are real-world problems where unwavering reliability and absolute precision are not just desired, but paramount for success.
- • As an intern, you will be an integral part of our collaborative environment, working closely with our experienced Perception and Autonomy engineering teams. This close collaboration will provide you with invaluable hands-on experience in developing and refining Perception modules that are actively deployed on operational vehicles at airports globally. This is a high-impact internship designed for individuals who possess a profound passion for autonomous systems and are eager to witness their contributions running in a live production environment.
- • Your responsibilities will encompass the design, implementation, and rigorous testing of crucial improvements to our Perception subsystems. This may involve working on advanced algorithms for Object Detection, sophisticated Tracking mechanisms, robust Sensor Fusion techniques, and insightful Scene Understanding capabilities. You will gain exposure to both established, conventional Perception methodologies and state-of-the-art Machine Learning-based approaches, utilizing data from multiple sensor modalities including cameras, LiDAR, and Radar.
- • A significant aspect of your role will involve the meticulous evaluation and validation of Perception system performance. You will utilize objective metrics to quantify effectiveness, with a keen focus on ensuring robustness and reliability across a wide spectrum of operating conditions and environmental factors. This data-driven approach is essential for building trust and confidence in our autonomous systems.
- • You will play a vital role in bridging the gap between perception and action by collaborating closely with the autonomy team. This partnership will ensure that your Perception improvements are seamlessly integrated into the broader autonomous driving system, contributing directly to the vehicle's ability to navigate and operate safely and efficiently.
- • Furthermore, you will be encouraged to stay abreast of the latest advancements and research trends in the fields of computer vision, sensor fusion, and machine learning. We value innovation and will support you in proposing novel ideas and approaches to further enhance and advance our Perception stack, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in autonomous technology.
- • This internship is an exceptional chance to apply your academic knowledge to solve complex, real-world engineering problems in a fast-paced, innovative startup environment. You will gain practical experience with industry-leading tools and technologies, develop a deeper understanding of the challenges and intricacies of autonomous systems, and contribute to a product that is set to redefine airport operations worldwide.
