  • • Join Live Nation Entertainment, Inc. as a Software Engineer and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the ticketing industry. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a dynamic team focused on building the most exciting, performant, and versatile self-serve ticketing platform available. You will be an integral part of the Festivals & GA Universe division, working on a 12-month fixed-term contract, 40 hours a week, remotely within the United Kingdom.
  • • As a Software Engineer, you will immerse yourself in a collaborative engineering environment that champions a supportive, people-centric culture. You'll work alongside a close-knit engineering leadership team, actively participating in the design, planning, architecture, and construction of our cutting-edge platform. This role demands strong technical acumen coupled with exceptional collaboration skills, enabling you to craft high-quality functionality and features in partnership with talented developers, Product Managers, and Designers.
  • • You will be empowered to work with a significant degree of autonomy, driving towards team objectives that align with our long-term technical vision and overarching business strategy. We encourage an approach that balances pragmatism with ingenuity, fostering trust within your team and across the wider business through independent problem-solving and thoughtful execution.
  • • The role involves working with modern technologies such as Next.js, TypeScript, Kafka, and Go, as we actively modernize our tech stack to support an ambitious vision for the business. You will tackle complex scaling challenges and develop innovative, effective solutions that ensure the reliability and performance of our platform.
  • • The Universe team is a recognized leader in online ticketing for a diverse range of events, from intimate music venues to large-scale immersive experiences. We are experiencing rapid growth, supporting innovative concepts for renowned artists and attractions like Disney, BBC Earth, and BTS. Our highly scalable ticketing platform adeptly handles complex technical, product, and design challenges, operating successfully in over 15 countries.
  • • Universe powers a variety of high-profile events, including virtual concerts for Dua Lipa, distributed drive-in events for Garth Brooks, electronic music festivals across North America, long-running immersive experiences, and major stadium sporting events. Since being acquired by Ticketmaster in 2015, our growth trajectory has accelerated, all while maintaining operational independence.
  • • With a global engineering team exceeding 40 engineers, Universe operates with its own distinct roadmap and a modern tech stack, including Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js, Kafka, Kubernetes, and Go. This is all supported by the robust resources of a Fortune 500 company. We are committed to shipping iteratively and quickly, scaling our operations globally to build a powerful and versatile ticketing platform through collaborative, data-driven development. As a bonus, free concert tickets are a welcome perk!
  • • As a Software Engineer at Universe, your primary contribution will be to build reliable, scalable solutions as we undertake a significant platform modernization, transitioning from Rails to Node.js and Next.js. You will consistently deliver high-quality code and foster your growth as a technical contributor through active participation in code reviews, pairing sessions, and collaborative knowledge sharing.
  • • Our clients, which include world-famous artists and highly sought-after events, depend on Universe to provide a stable, high-performance platform capable of managing unpredictable demand and significant traffic spikes. You will be instrumental in designing and implementing solutions using technologies such as Next.js, TypeScript, Kafka, and Go, with a focus on frequent deployments through our continuous deployment pipeline. A testament to our efficient processes, most new hires deploy code within their first two weeks, with some achieving this within their first two days.
  • • Collaborating closely with developers, designers, and product managers, you will apply strong engineering judgment to ensure we build the right software, in the right way, iteratively, quickly, and at a global scale. Our tech stack is undergoing a significant transformation, evolving legacy Ruby on Rails systems into scalable, purpose-built services powered by modern technologies. You will work across TypeScript, JavaScript, Go, and Ruby, utilizing tools such as Next.js, Node.js, Kafka, Postgres, gRPC, MongoDB, GraphQL, and Kubernetes.
  • • Our observability tooling provides meaningful insights, enabling data-driven engineering decisions and facilitating the resolution of complex scaling challenges. We embrace continuous deployment and rapid iteration. As part of our modernization journey, you will help build a reliable platform that scales to meet unpredictable demand while delivering fast, resilient experiences worldwide.
  • • Your day-to-day responsibilities will be dynamic and may include writing new pages and components using Next.js and React, powered by SSR, REST, and GraphQL; contributing to the design and architecture of protobuf contracts for efficient service development; driving quality and performance improvements through advocacy for observability, load testing, and metrics; pragmatically maintaining legacy systems while supporting platform evolution; fostering a positive, productive, and healthy team environment; working closely with Product Managers and Designers to deliver effective solutions; engaging in pair programming with fellow engineers; participating in self-directed Relentless Improvement days for learning, experimentation, or platform enhancements; and adhering to quality management, safety, and environmental company policies.
  • • We are looking for individuals who possess proven years of experience working within productive software engineering teams and delivering high-quality software. Experience with full-stack development across multiple languages and modern architectures is essential. Strong communication skills, particularly for asynchronous collaboration, are vital. An independent mindset with the ability to work autonomously and approach problems with pragmatism and creativity is highly valued.
  • • We seek candidates who demonstrate a thoughtful approach to feedback, pairing, and code reviews, while upholding high technical standards. Experience contributing to architectural decisions within distributed systems and comfort working in a continuous deployment environment with rapid iteration are key. Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD tooling such as Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, or Argo CD is advantageous. Experience with technologies like TypeScript, Next.js, Node.js, Go, Rust, Kafka, Grafana, GraphQL, MongoDB, Elixir, or Postgres is a plus.
  • • You will be joining a company that is proud to be part of Live Nation Entertainment, the world's largest live entertainment company. Our vision at Ticketmaster is to connect people around the world to the live events they love. We are uniquely positioned to deliver on this vision through our passion for live events and an inspiring, diverse culture driven by accessible leaders, attentive managers, and enthusiastic teams.
  • • Our work is guided by core values: Reliability, Teamwork, Integrity, and Belonging. We are committed to building an inclusive environment where all individuals can be their authentic selves, have an equal voice, and opportunities to thrive. We encourage applications from people irrespective of gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability status, or caring responsibilities.
