đź“‹ Description

  • • Join Kraken, a pioneering force in the cryptocurrency industry, and contribute to building the future of digital finance. As a Software Engineer specializing in Rust within our Product Engineering teams, you will be at the forefront of innovation, working on products that directly impact millions of users worldwide.
  • • Our Product Engineering teams operate at the critical intersection of crypto markets, cutting-edge technology, and exceptional customer experience. Every technical decision you make will have a tangible effect on our traders, our revenue streams, and the overall evolution of the rapidly expanding crypto ecosystem. This is an opportunity to move beyond simply executing requirements; you will actively co-create them alongside our Product and Design counterparts, leveraging your strong product intuition and a laser focus on user impact.
  • • You will be part of teams that are intimately connected to the metrics that truly matter: conversion rates, user retention, system reliability, market liquidity, and the overall trader experience. This close proximity to key performance indicators empowers you to make informed and thoughtful tradeoffs, balancing user experience, technical performance, and crucial business outcomes.
  • • Collaboration and clear communication are paramount to our success. You will work closely with a diverse range of cross-functional partners, including Product Managers, Designers, and fellow engineers, to ensure seamless product development and timely delivery.
  • • This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about building robust, scalable, and secure systems. You will have the opportunity to design and implement sophisticated Rust services and libraries that underpin core functionalities such as trading, payments, and various other crypto-centric user experiences. A primary focus will be placed on ensuring the utmost reliability, optimal performance, and significant user impact.
  • • Your responsibilities will include writing clean, reusable, testable, and highly efficient code. This code must be designed to scale effectively across multiple teams and support revenue-critical systems without ever compromising on safety or security – principles that are non-negotiable at Kraken.
  • • You will actively participate in discussions and decisions regarding large-scale distributed systems architecture. This involves translating complex and evolving product requirements into resilient, low-latency solutions that can handle the demands of a global user base.
  • • Become part of a vibrant community of hundreds of experienced Rust engineers. You will contribute to and benefit from a high-performance, product-driven engineering culture that fosters continuous learning and innovation.
  • • We are looking for builders who not only possess strong technical acumen but also thrive in environments with a degree of ambiguity. You should be comfortable moving quickly, taking ownership of your work, and demonstrating a deep care for the customer experience. If you are excited by the prospect of building and enhancing industry-leading products like the Kraken app, Kraken Pro, Desktop, and Kraken Futures, this role is for you.
  • • You will be instrumental in ensuring the stability and performance of systems that handle high-volume, time-sensitive transactions. This requires a meticulous approach to code quality, error handling, and performance optimization.
  • • Engage in code reviews, architectural discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions to elevate the technical capabilities of the team and the broader engineering organization.
  • • Contribute to the development of best practices and standards for Rust development within Kraken, ensuring consistency and quality across all product engineering initiatives.
  • • Embrace a culture of continuous improvement, actively seeking out opportunities to refactor code, improve system designs, and enhance development processes.
  • • Work with modern development tools and methodologies, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • • Understand and contribute to the security posture of our products, implementing security best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
  • • Collaborate with SRE and operations teams to ensure the smooth deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of services in production.
  • • Gain deep insights into the cryptocurrency market and the specific needs of traders, from institutional clients to retail users, and translate these insights into effective technical solutions.
  • • This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the technical direction of critical product features and contribute to Kraken's mission of accelerating crypto adoption globally.
