- • As a Software Engineer on the Enterprise Applications & Architecture (EAA) team at Coinbase, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our institutional sales, trading, and prime business operations. You will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining robust Salesforce capabilities that directly empower our sales, account management, and billing workflows. This is a unique opportunity to join a high-ownership, collaborative engineering team that acts as the primary engineering partner for the Sales Trading & Prime (STP) business, driving revenue growth, enhancing forecasting accuracy, and establishing resilient, auditable processes.
- • Your core responsibility will involve the end-to-end delivery of features and enhancements within the Salesforce platform. This encompasses the entire software development lifecycle, from initial technical design and meticulous estimation, through to implementation, rigorous testing, seamless deployment, and essential post-launch support. You will be expected to take ownership and see projects through to successful completion, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
- • A significant aspect of this role is building and maintaining critical integrations between Salesforce and both internal and external systems. This will involve leveraging technologies such as REST APIs, event-driven architectures, and middleware/automation platforms to ensure reliable data flows and facilitate seamless cross-system workflows. Your expertise in integration will be key to unlocking new functionalities and improving operational efficiency.
- • You will collaborate closely with a diverse group of stakeholders, including product managers, Salesforce administrators, architects, and business leaders from various departments such as Customer Experience (CX), Compliance, Sales, Legal, and Institutional Operations. This cross-functional partnership will involve refining requirements, providing expert technical guidance on the capabilities and limitations of the Salesforce platform, and making informed recommendations on architectural decisions and trade-offs.
- • A crucial part of your role will be to effectively communicate technical concepts and progress. You will be responsible for providing clear and concise demonstrations of developed features to end stakeholders and your engineering peers. Incorporating feedback received during these sessions will be vital for iterating on designs and expanding the impact of your work through direct, live consultation and engagement.
- • You will be tasked with designing and implementing sophisticated data models within Salesforce, including the creation of custom objects, defining complex relationships, and establishing a secure sharing model. Furthermore, you will develop and maintain automation solutions using tools like Salesforce Flows, Omni-Channel, and assignment/routing rules, ensuring these configurations can scale effectively to handle growing data volumes and increasing complexity.
- • Maintaining a high standard of code quality, security, and reliability is paramount. You will actively participate in code reviews, engage in pair programming sessions, and contribute to design reviews. This collaborative approach ensures that our codebase remains robust, maintainable, and secure, adhering to best practices and mitigating potential risks.
- • Operational excellence is a key focus. You will be part of on-call rotations, responsible for triaging and resolving production issues, conducting thorough root cause analyses, and implementing measures to harden critical workflows and platform services. Your contribution here will be vital in ensuring the stability and availability of our core systems.
- • Comprehensive documentation is essential for long-term success. You will be responsible for documenting technical designs, established patterns, and operational runbooks. This ensures that changes are well-understood, auditable, and easy for the team to operate and maintain over time, fostering knowledge sharing and reducing operational overhead.
- • As a senior member of the team, you will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers (IC3) and contractor developers. You will guide them on Salesforce engineering best practices, helping to elevate the overall skill level and consistency of the Salesforce ecosystem at Coinbase.
- • The Enterprise Applications & Architecture (EAA) team is at the forefront of building the onchain platform, and your contributions will directly impact Coinbase's mission to increase economic freedom in the world. You will be working in an intense, fast-paced environment alongside highly talented colleagues, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in the crypto and blockchain space.
