đź“‹ Description

  • • As a Software Engineer on the Trust team at Notion, you will play a critical role in safeguarding millions of users by building secure, privacy-preserving features that protect against account takeovers, fraud, spam, and abusive content—directly contributing to user trust and platform integrity in an era where digital safety is paramount.
  • • You will design and implement controls and guardrails for AI-powered features, ensuring that Notion’s AI workspace remains trustworthy, transparent, and aligned with safety principles, enabling users to leverage AI confidently without compromising data integrity or ethical standards.
  • • You will collaborate closely with product, infrastructure, legal, and trust & safety operations teams to embed security and privacy into the core of Notion’s technology stack, driving cross-functional initiatives that balance innovation with responsible engineering practices.
  • • Your day-to-day work will involve writing clean, maintainable code in TypeScript, React, Node.js, and related technologies to build product features, platforms, and tools that detect, prevent, and mitigate security and abuse risks at scale.
  • • You will participate in design reviews, threat modeling sessions, and incident response efforts, helping to evolve Notion’s security posture through proactive identification of vulnerabilities and implementation of robust mitigation strategies.
  • • You will contribute to internal tooling and automation that enhances the efficiency of trust and safety workflows, enabling faster detection and response to emerging threats while reducing manual toil for operational teams.
  • • You will engage in blameless postmortems and continuous improvement cycles, learning from real-world incidents to strengthen system resilience and refine detection logic over time.
  • • You will advocate for and implement privacy-by-design principles, ensuring that user data is handled with the utmost care and in compliance with global regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
  • • You will help shape Notion’s long-term trust strategy by identifying emerging risks in the AI and collaboration landscape and proposing forward-thinking technical solutions that scale with the platform’s growth.
  • • You will work in a highly collaborative, in-person environment (Anchor Days: Mon, Tue, Thu) where mentorship, knowledge sharing, and peer feedback are encouraged, fostering both technical growth and interpersonal effectiveness.
  • • You will have the opportunity to grow into a trusted technical leader within the Trust Engineering team, influencing roadmap decisions and mentoring junior engineers as you deepen your expertise in security, privacy, and responsible AI.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 2–4 years of professional software engineering experience with a proven ability to decompose complex problems and deliver clean, pragmatic solutions independently or collaboratively.
  • • Strong communication skills: ability to articulate technical concepts clearly in writing and verbally, listen actively, and navigate disagreements with empathy and a focus on compromise.
  • • Demonstrated teamwork and cross-functional collaboration: experience working effectively with product, design, legal, and operations teams to achieve shared goals while supporting the growth of others.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Competitive base salary range of $139,000–$204,000 per year for San Francisco-based roles, complemented by equity and performance-based bonuses.
  • • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans, along with 401(k) matching and flexible spending accounts.
  • • Generous paid time off, company holidays, and parental leave policies designed to support work-life balance and well-being.
  • • Access to AI tools like Claude Code or Codex to enhance productivity and innovation in daily workflows.
  • • In-person collaboration culture with designated Anchor Days (Mon, Tue, Thu) to strengthen team cohesion and spontaneous idea exchange.
  • • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, with robust accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities and veterans.
