  • • Embark on a transformative summer journey as a Software Engineering Intern at Sift Science, Inc., where you will be integrated into one of our dynamic engineering teams. This immersive experience is designed for ambitious students eager to contribute to real-world projects, gain invaluable industry experience, and accelerate their professional growth. You will have the unique opportunity to collaborate closely with seasoned full-time engineers, benefit from the guidance of a dedicated mentor, and receive ongoing support from your manager, all while working towards delivering impactful features and enhancements to Sift's cutting-edge fraud detection platform.
  • • The internship spans approximately 10-12 weeks during the Summer of 2026, operating on a full-time basis. This role is particularly well-suited for students who are keen to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting and may be eligible to receive course credit for their on-the-job learning experience. If you are passionate about the intersection of data science, machine learning, and modern software engineering, this internship offers a stimulating environment to explore and excel in one or more of the following critical areas:
  • • Data & ML: Dive deep into the intricacies of data pipelines, contribute to experimentation frameworks, and gain hands-on experience in model training and evaluation processes.
  • • Backend: Engage with Java-based services, develop robust APIs, and contribute to the architecture and maintenance of large-scale distributed systems.
  • • Frontend: Craft intuitive and responsive user interfaces using React, and develop data-rich web applications that enhance the user experience.
  • • DevOps / Platform: Work with essential tools like Terraform, contribute to cloud infrastructure management, optimize CI/CD pipelines, and enhance developer tooling.
  • • Interns who demonstrate exceptional knowledge, a proactive attitude, and strong capabilities will be presented with the exciting prospect of contributing to production code that directly powers our industry-leading fraud detection platform. Past interns have made significant contributions, including the development of sophisticated machine learning models and pipelines, enhancements to distributed systems and core infrastructure, and improvements to our customer-facing web console, leaving a tangible impact on Sift's products.
  • • Your day-to-day responsibilities will encompass the full software development lifecycle. You will be instrumental in designing, building, and shipping production-quality code as an integral part of an agile engineering team. This involves writing comprehensive tests to ensure code reliability, diligently debugging issues to maintain system integrity, and iterating rapidly based on constructive code reviews and valuable feedback from your peers and mentors.
  • • You will leverage GitHub as your primary tool for collaborative development, mastering workflows involving branches, pull requests, code reviews, and continuous integration (CI) processes. Effective collaboration will be key as you work alongside fellow engineers, product managers, and data scientists to meticulously scope, plan, and implement features from their initial concept through to successful deployment.
  • • Beyond technical contributions, you will also play a vital role in enhancing our engineering practices, refining our tools, and improving our documentation. Your insights and efforts will directly contribute to making our development environment more efficient and productive for future interns and full-time engineers alike.
  • • Upon completion of the internship, you will depart with a robust portfolio of concrete projects, a wealth of practical experience working within a modern, high-performing engineering organization, and a significantly clearer understanding of the specific areas within software engineering that ignite your passion and align with your career aspirations. This internship is more than just a summer job; it's a launchpad for your future career in technology.
