Software Engineering Leader - Payouts

📋 Description • Own the end-to-end delivery of dLocal’s Payouts platform, the engine that moves billions of dollars annually for global giants like Netflix, Amazon, Nike and Facebook across 40 emerging markets. You will steer a cross-functional, fully-remote engineering squad that designs, builds and scales the high-throughput services that pay merchants, gig-workers and suppliers in real time. • Lead weekly sprint planning, OKR definition and quarterly roadmap reviews. Balance product priorities, regulatory deadlines and technical debt while keeping every engineer laser-focused on outcomes. You will be the final escalation point for production incidents, post-mortems and capacity planning. • Act as a player-coach: spend at least 30 % of your time in the codebase—reviewing pull requests, pairing on tricky Go microservices or TypeScript front-end features, and ensuring that every architectural decision meets non-functional requirements for latency (< 100 ms p99), throughput (> 5 000 TPS) and zero-downtime deploys. • Hire, mentor and retain top-tier talent across Argentina, Uruguay and beyond. Conduct 1:1s, craft individual growth plans and run performance cycles that turn senior engineers into tech leads and tech leads into future staff engineers. Promote a culture of psychological safety where experimentation and constructive debate thrive. • Drive technical excellence by enforcing test-driven development, trunk-based Git workflows and rigorous code-quality gates. Champion observability: define SLIs/SLOs, instrument services with OpenTelemetry, and build dashboards in Datadog/Grafana that give the entire company real-time visibility into payout health. • Collaborate with Product, Risk, Compliance and Finance to translate complex regulatory requirements (e.g., FX controls in Brazil or capital controls in Nigeria) into elegant software solutions. You will frequently white-board with central-bank liaisons and external auditors to ensure every transaction is compliant and traceable. • Architect for scale and resilience. Design event-driven workflows on AWS (EKS, SQS, Kinesis) that gracefully handle traffic spikes during Black Friday or Chinese Singles’ Day. Introduce chaos-engineering drills to prove that your systems can survive region-wide outages without missing a cent. • Evangelize the Payouts platform internally: run guild sessions, write internal tech-blog posts and present quarterly deep-dives to the CTO and CPO. Your thought leadership will influence dLocal’s multi-year infrastructure vision and open-source contributions. • Continuously optimize cost and performance. Profile JVM/Go runtimes, tune RDS and DynamoDB indexes, and negotiate reserved-instance pricing so that gross-margin targets are met even as volume grows 3× year-over-year. • Foster a remote-first culture that spans 30 nationalities. Organize virtual hack-days, quarterly dLocal House retreats and in-person summits that keep the squad bonded despite time-zone differences.
