This unique contract role offers the opportunity to leverage your deep expertise in SolveSpace, a powerful parametric 2D/3D CAD tool, to contribute directly to the advancement of AI in the engineering and design space. You will be instrumental in capturing and articulating the nuanced processes that experienced professionals employ when tackling complex design challenges, ensuring that AI models learn from the best practices and intricate decision-making involved in parametric modeling and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM).
• • Your primary responsibility will be to lead and execute end-to-end parametric CAD projects within SolveSpace. This encompasses the entire project lifecycle, from the initial conceptualization of a design to the final export of manufacturing-ready files. You will be expected to manage projects independently, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of parametric design principles and their application in SolveSpace.
• • A critical component of this role involves meticulously documenting and articulating your entire workflow. This includes not only the technical steps you take but also the underlying reasoning, design intent, and decision-making processes that guide your work. This detailed documentation will serve as the primary training data for AI models, requiring you to be exceptionally clear and thorough in your explanations, both verbally and in writing.
• • You will be tasked with creating robust parametric sketches, applying a comprehensive suite of geometric and dimensional constraints to ensure design integrity and adaptability. This involves a deep understanding of how to build stable and predictable models that can be easily modified and iterated upon.
• • The role extends to developing complex 3D features, including extrudes, revolves, and helixes. You will also perform essential operations such as Boolean operations (union, subtract, intersect) and refine fully constrained designs to meet specific engineering requirements. The ability to create intricate and precise 3D geometry is paramount.
• • Organizing assemblies is another key responsibility. You will learn to manage multiple components within a larger structure, ensuring proper fit, function, and relationships.
