Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • As a Sr. AI Engineer at Rula Health, you will play a pivotal role in integrating artificial intelligence into the core of mental healthcare delivery, directly contributing to the company’s mission of destigmatizing mental health and providing evidence-based, compassionate care at scale. Your work will bridge cutting-edge AI innovation with real-world clinical impact, ensuring that AI solutions are not only technically robust but also aligned with patient and provider needs in a highly regulated environment.
- • You will design, develop, and deploy AI-powered features across patient-facing tools, provider workflows, and internal operations, collaborating closely with product, design, engineering, and clinical teams to translate complex AI concepts into usable, reliable systems that improve access, quality, and efficiency in mental healthcare.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include prototyping new AI capabilities using foundation models (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini), building production-grade integrations with RAG, agent architectures, and tool/function calling patterns, and refining models through rigorous evaluation pipelines focused on factual accuracy, safety, and clinical relevance.
- • You will establish and maintain observability, AIOps, and data pipeline systems to monitor model performance, drift, and quality over time, ensuring continuous improvement through feedback loops from real-world usage and human-in-the-loop validation.
- • You will work with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS, Milvus) and orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, DSPy, Haystack) to build scalable, secure AI systems that comply with HIPAA and GDPR standards, particularly when handling sensitive patient data.
- • You will mentor junior engineers, contribute to technical architecture decisions, and help shape Rula’s AI strategy as the company scales, fostering a culture of innovation, responsibility, and rapid yet careful iteration.
- • You will gain deep expertise in applying AI to regulated healthcare environments, learning how to balance innovation with compliance, safety, and ethical considerations while seeing the tangible impact of your work on patient outcomes and provider satisfaction.
- • You will have the opportunity to influence the future of AI in mental health by contributing to open-source efforts, publishing internal learnings, and helping establish best practices for responsible AI deployment in clinical settings—positioning yourself as a leader at the intersection of AI and healthcare innovation.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of AI/ML development with proven success in shipping AI products in production environments, including model design, training/fine-tuning, deployment, and ongoing quality maintenance.
- • 3+ years of deep Python proficiency and 1+ years of experience with a backend language such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, or Go.
- • Hands-on experience with foundation models (OpenAI, Anthropic, Bedrock, Gemini) and expertise in LLM integration patterns including RAG, tool/function calling, agents, memory routing, and AI orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, DSPy, Haystack).
- • Experience designing evaluation pipelines for human alignment, factual accuracy, and model interpretability, along with strong knowledge of AIOps, data pipelines, and observability systems for continuous model improvement.
- • Demonstrated ability to work with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS, Milvus) and build secure, compliant AI solutions in regulated environments, preferably with exposure to HIPAA or GDPR.
- • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Machine Learning, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
