• • The Notebook team is at the forefront of developing cutting-edge AI-driven workflows. This includes pioneering natural-language data analysis capabilities, facilitating assisted graph generation, automating intricate investigations, and much more. As a Staff AI Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader in this domain, taking ownership of building industry-leading AI-powered features that redefine user experience and productivity.
• • We are seeking a product-minded Machine Learning Engineer who possesses deep technical expertise, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record of successfully driving impactful initiatives from conception through to completion. Your role will be critical in translating ambitious ideas into tangible, scalable, and reliable AI solutions that integrate seamlessly into the Datadog ecosystem.
• • You will spearhead critical AI initiatives within the Notebooks product, acting as the technical owner responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of ML/AI-driven features. This encompasses the initial design and architectural planning, through to development, rigorous testing, and ultimately, successful deployment and ongoing maintenance.
• • A key aspect of your role will be to shape the long-term technical vision and strategic roadmap for AI workflows not only within Notebooks but also across related Datadog products. You will be a key influencer in defining how AI enhances our platform's capabilities.
• • You will champion the entire development cycle for AI features, from rapid prototyping and defining robust success metrics and evaluation frameworks to meticulously running experiments, iterating based on feedback and performance data, and ensuring that developed solutions achieve production-ready scale, reliability, and maintainability.
• • A strong user focus is paramount. You will drive product direction by consistently advocating for the best possible end-user experience, ensuring that AI features are intuitive, powerful, and seamlessly integrated into existing workflows.
• • You will play a crucial role in coordinating with other technical leaders and product teams across Datadog who are interested in leveraging the capabilities of Notebooks within their own AI-powered workflows, fostering cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• • A significant part of your work will involve developing sophisticated agent systems. This includes designing and implementing tools, advanced retrieval and planning strategies, robust guardrails to ensure safe and effective operation, sophisticated prompt management and evaluation techniques, effective fallback mechanisms, and well-defined human-in-the-loop processes to optimize AI performance and user trust.
• • You will be expected to stay abreast of the latest industry trends, emerging technologies, and evolving best practices in AI and ML.
