📋 Description

• As a Staff Cloud Engineer at Tide Platform Limited, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and maintaining the cloud infrastructure that powers financial services for over 1.8 million small and medium-sized enterprises across the UK, India, Germany, and France. Your work directly enables SMEs to save time and money by ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of Tide’s cloud-native platform, which is central to delivering innovative banking and administrative solutions.
• You will lead and mentor a team of engineers in Bulgaria and Serbia, driving technical excellence while collaborating cross-functionally to align cloud solutions with business objectives. Your expertise will shape the evolution of Tide’s infrastructure as it expands across multiple cloud providers, ensuring resilience and performance at scale.
• The cloud engineering team at Tide manages a predominantly AWS-based infrastructure using Kubernetes (EKS), Terraform/Terragrunt for Infrastructure as Code, Argo CD for GitOps-driven deployments, and Github Actions for CI/CD. You will work in a diverse, inclusive environment that values innovation, transparency, and continuous learning, with offices in Sofia and opportunities to engage with global technology centres in Serbia, Romania, Lithuania, Hyderabad, and beyond.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in multi-cloud architectures, GitOps methodologies, cloud security, and container orchestration while influencing architectural decisions that impact millions of users. You’ll have the opportunity to lead technical initiatives, mentor senior engineers, and contribute to a culture of engineering excellence at a fast-growing fintech championing diversity and inclusion.
• Design, build, and maintain highly available, secure, and scalable cloud-based solutions on AWS, with exposure to Azure and GCP workloads.
• Lead and mentor junior and mid-level engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge-sharing sessions to elevate team capability.
• Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and advocate for adoption of best practices in cloud security, observability, and cost optimization.
• Troubleshoot complex cloud-based and networking issues, conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures to improve system reliability.
• Collaborate closely with product, security, and platform teams to ensure cloud infrastructure supports business needs, including compliance, performance, and feature velocity.
• Participate in on-call rotations to provide timely response to production incidents, ensuring high availability of critical services.
• Implement and refine Infrastructure as Code practices using Terraform, Terragrunt, and Crossplane to manage cloud resources consistently and reproducibly.
• Drive GitOps workflows using Argo CD and Helm, ensuring safe, auditable, and automated application and infrastructure deployments.
• Write and maintain production-quality code in Python, Java, or Go for tooling, operators, and automation scripts that enhance platform operability.
• Promote and practice Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban, contributing to sprint planning, retrospectives, and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to the evolution of Tide’s tech stack by evaluating new tools and technologies that improve developer experience and system resilience.
• Foster a culture of technical excellence, psychological safety, and inclusion within the engineering team, aligned with Tide’s values of diversity and transparency.

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in distributed systems and cloud computing, with deep expertise in AWS, Kubernetes, and containerized environments.
• Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Terragrunt), GitOps (Argo CD), and CI/CD pipelines (Github Actions).
• Strong hands-on coding ability in Python, Java, or Go, including experience with automation, operators, and cloud-native tooling.
• Experience with APIs, cloud security best practices, Argo CD, and Agile ways of working in enterprise environments.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and work effectively across distributed teams.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
