📋 Description

• Lead the creation and implementation of a foundational sustaining engineering framework for Mainspring Energy’s Electrical Engineering department as the inaugural member of a new sub-team.
• Serve as the primary technical execution lead for resolving complex, multi-domain electrical system issues across the entire product lifecycle, from low-voltage electronics to high-power conversion systems.
• Investigate and solve structured, systems-level hardware problems with deep technical rigor, avoiding routine schematic drafting in favor of root-cause analysis and systemic fixes.
• Act as the operational shield for core design teams by proactively identifying, diagnosing, and resolving field failures, manufacturing anomalies, and performance deviations in deployed Linear Generator systems.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, field operations, and supply chain teams to ensure hardware integrity is maintained as production scales and commercial fleet expands.
• Drive documentation and process improvements for sustaining activities, establishing repeatable methodologies for issue tracking, failure analysis, and design change implementation.
• Own the end-to-end resolution of component obsolescence issues, not through paperwork alone, but by evaluating technical alternatives, validating substitutions, and implementing design updates that preserve system performance.
• Maintain deep familiarity with Mainspring’s proprietary Linear Generator technology, including its electrical architecture, control systems, and power conversion topology, to enable rapid and accurate troubleshooting.
• Identify opportunities to improve product reliability and manufacturability through sustaining engineering insights, feeding actionable feedback into future design iterations.
• Work autonomously with high execution ownership, setting the standard for technical excellence and proactive collaboration within the Electrical Engineering organization.
• Represent the Electrical Engineering team in cross-departmental reviews, providing technical leadership on sustaining-related decisions that impact product quality, cost, and delivery timelines.
• Maintain rigorous attention to detail while managing multiple concurrent hardware issues across diverse operational environments, including data centers, utilities, and Fortune 500 customer sites.
• Contribute to the development of test protocols, diagnostic tools, and field service guides to support sustaining activities and enable scalable support for growing commercial deployments.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior Electrical Engineer with deep systems-level expertise in power electronics, low-voltage control systems, and high-power conversion topologies
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex hardware problem resolution across manufacturing, field operations, and design teams
• Strong track record of implementing sustaining engineering frameworks or processes in a high-growth hardware environment
• Experience with root-cause analysis of field failures and component obsolescence mitigation in commercial products
• Ability to work autonomously with high ownership and drive technical initiatives without direct supervision
• Excellent documentation and cross-functional communication skills
