📋 Description

• Design and maintain scalable, secure software architectures that align with ZayZoon’s mission of improving employee financial wellness through earned wage access and related services.
• Introduce and implement best practices in object-oriented programming, domain-driven design, and microservices to enhance system reliability and maintainability.
• Leverage AI tools to streamline development workflows, eliminate bottlenecks, and free up engineering time for high-impact work.
• Enforce coding standards and secure development practices across the engineering team, resulting in measurable reductions in bugs and performance improvements.
• Conduct thorough code reviews that provide actionable feedback to reduce technical debt and improve software quality.
• Use application data, third-party data, and the company’s data warehouse to analyze system performance, product impact, and operational inefficiencies.
• Lead projects involving scale, concurrency, queuing, background processing, and efficient ingestion of third-party financial data.
• Implement and oversee secure deployment practices across AWS, RDS, message queues, and serverless infrastructure.
• Champion secure coding standards aligned with OWASP guidelines and SOC-2 compliance requirements.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and development teams to ensure alignment on technical roadmaps and project priorities.
• Participate fully in agile ceremonies including sprint planning, story grooming, and daily standups.
• Drive improvements in software performance through optimization of complex SQL queries, ETL pipelines, and data warehouse queries.
• Use data engineering skills to surface insights, troubleshoot errors, and inform product and infrastructure decisions.
• Mentor engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and shared ownership of system health.
• Bridge the gap between current system capabilities and future scalability needs as the platform grows to serve more employers and employees.

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years of experience with Ruby on Rails
• Mastery of solid coding principles, domain-driven design, performant code and queries, and unit/integration testing
• Experience leading projects involving scale, concurrency, queuing, background processing, and third-party data ingestion
• Security mindset with knowledge of OWASP, secure development, and SOC-2 processes
• Experience deploying and managing infrastructure outside of app development (AWS, RDS, queues, serverless)
• Track record of using AI to simplify workflows, eliminate bottlenecks, and shift focus toward meaningful engineering work
