• • The Cybersecurity Group at SandboxAQ is seeking a highly skilled Staff Infrastructure Engineer to architect and build the foundational engineering platform for AQtive Guard. This groundbreaking product suite encompasses Cryptographic Posture Management and AI Security Posture Management. As we scale our SaaS offering globally, serving major organizations including top-tier financial institutions and government agencies, the speed, quality, and unwavering security of our software delivery are paramount to our success. We are navigating complex challenges related to security, latency, and reliability as we expand our reach.
• • At SandboxAQ, we operate with the philosophy that infrastructure is a product. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in engineering a self-service Cloud Platform as a Product. This involves writing sophisticated software to automate the intricate processes of infrastructure provisioning, developing robust Kubernetes operators, and creating internal APIs that empower our services to scale autonomously and efficiently. You will apply the highest standards of software engineering rigor—including comprehensive testing, modular design principles, and meticulous version control—to our entire infrastructure codebase.
• • We are actively searching for a builder who possesses a deep understanding of distributed systems, moving beyond mere configuration file management. If you are passionate about leveraging code to solve complex infrastructure problems and architecting multi-region environments that operate with minimal to zero human intervention, this role presents an exceptional opportunity.
• • Key Responsibilities:
• • Engineer the Platform: Design, develop, and maintain our internal self-service Cloud Platform as a Product. This includes creating production-grade software solutions that automate the provisioning, scaling, and lifecycle management of our global infrastructure, ensuring reliability and efficiency.
• • Architect Scalable, Resilient Cloud Environments: Lead the architectural design of highly available, multi-region cloud infrastructures on platforms like AWS and GCP. Focus on optimizing for low-latency, high-throughput security services, making critical decisions regarding distributed systems, state management strategies, and robust disaster recovery plans.
• • Extend Kubernetes Ecosystem: Build, enhance, and maintain custom Kubernetes Controllers, Operators, and Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs). These components will be crucial for orchestrating complex, stateful workloads and automatically enforcing best practices across our containerized environments.
• • Uphold Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Rigor: Apply stringent software engineering standards to all aspects of Infrastructure as Code. Architect reusable and well-documented Terraform/OpenTofu modules, implement automated infrastructure testing frameworks (e.g., Terratest), and enforce GitOps principles using tools like ArgoCD for deterministic and auditable deployments.
• • Build Advanced Developer Tooling: Design and develop command-line interfaces (CLIs), APIs, and Software Development Kits (SDKs) to abstract away infrastructure complexities for our product engineers. These tools will serve to streamline development workflows while simultaneously enforcing critical security and compliance guardrails.
• • Drive Technical Excellence and Mentorship: Actively mentor fellow engineers on cloud-native patterns and best practices. Conduct thorough code reviews for infrastructure code, and champion a culture of automation, continuous improvement, and shared learning throughout the team.
• • Contribute to a Culture of Innovation: Proactively identify opportunities for infrastructure improvements, performance optimizations, and the adoption of new technologies that can enhance the security, scalability, and efficiency of our platform.
• • Ensure Security and Compliance: Integrate security best practices into every layer of the infrastructure, from code to deployment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
