đź“‹ Description

  • • As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer specializing in Taxonomy at Patreon, you will be the first dedicated expert in building classification systems that power discovery, recommendations, and platform insights for over 300,000 creators and 10 million+ paying fans. Your work will directly impact how creators are understood and how fans discover content, enabling improved recommendations, content quality signals, and search relevance across the platform—making this role foundational to Patreon’s mission of funding the creative class.
  • • You will design, build, and deploy end-to-end machine learning pipelines that generate taxonomies of creators, content, and risk profiles using unstructured data such as text, audio, video, and images. This includes conducting exploratory data analysis, developing proof-of-concept models, preparing training data via crowdsourcing labeling techniques, training and iterating on models using advanced NLP and clustering methods, deploying models to production, writing backend code for integration, debugging performance gaps, and translating technical findings into actionable insights for product, engineering, legal, trust and safety, and executive stakeholders.
  • • You will join the Relevance team, a data-driven group focused on uncovering insights that shape Patreon’s product strategy while promoting scientific rigor and data fluency across the organization. As the inaugural Taxonomy MLE, you will collaborate closely with product, engineering, design, GTM, Trust & Safety, and other machine learning engineers to ensure classification systems align with shared infrastructure, code standards, and roadmap goals, while contributing to a culture of curiosity and craftsmanship.
  • • In this role, you will grow as a technical and cultural leader by shaping the taxonomy function from the ground up, mentoring peers through code reviews and knowledge sharing, influencing cross-functional initiatives, and gaining deep experience in applying ML to real-world creator media at scale—positioning you at the forefront of innovation in creator economy platforms.
