đź“‹ Description
- • As the Staff Product Designer for Registry at Babylist, you will lead the design vision for the company’s foundational product — the registry used by millions of expecting parents to discover products, make decisions, and receive gifts during one of life’s most meaningful transitions. This role is critical to shaping how parents build their registries and how their communities support them, directly impacting user trust, engagement, and long-term brand loyalty in a $320B industry.
- • You will own the end-to-end experience across web and mobile, guiding parents from initial product discovery through registry creation and gift fulfillment, ensuring the journey is intuitive, joyful, and efficient for both registrants and gift givers. Your work will involve identifying friction points and designing solutions that simplify complex decisions while elevating emotional resonance.
- • You will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and data teams in a builder mindset — using Figma, AI-assisted workflows, code-based prototyping, and agentic development to rapidly explore ideas, test interaction models, and ship real experiences without waiting for polished mocks. This role demands hands-on execution balanced with strategic thinking, where you prototype, test, and iterate weekly while holding long-term vision.
- • You will partner with product and engineering leadership to shape the long-term vision for the registry, including how AI-powered guidance and automation can enhance personalization, reduce decision fatigue, and streamline gift fulfillment — positioning Babylist at the forefront of AI-integrated family experiences.
- • You will help define new ways of working as design, product, and engineering transition to co-building with AI — establishing rituals, tools, and patterns that the broader team can adopt to increase velocity, shared understanding, and innovation velocity across the organization.
- • You will raise the bar for design quality and velocity at Babylist by sharing prototyping approaches, design systems, and AI-augmented workflows that enable teams to learn faster, ship better experiences, and maintain high standards amid rapid iteration.
- • You will create fast feedback loops through user testing, direct interaction, and scrappy methods like spinning up real user groups in Slack to gather signal quickly, ensuring designs are deeply rooted in real user needs and behaviors.
- • You will advocate for the best user experience while remaining self-directed and collaborative — receiving feedback constructively, moving work forward, and inspiring others through your ownership and craftsmanship.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of product design experience with a strong portfolio demonstrating shipped work across web and mobile platforms, particularly in consumer-facing or e-commerce contexts.
- • Fluency in Figma and comfort using AI-assisted design tools, code-based prototyping (e.g., HTML/CSS/JS or frameworks like React), or agentic workflows to bring concepts to life before specs are finalized.
- • Strong visual and interaction design skills with a proven track record of crafting intuitive user journeys that simplify complex decisions — especially in high-stakes, emotionally resonant domains like parenting, health, or gifting.
- • Comfort operating in ambiguity: ability to take early, loosely defined product ideas and translate them into clear experiences, interaction models, and testable prototypes.
- • Deeply user-connected mindset: skilled at creating fast feedback loops via user testing, direct interaction, and scrappy research methods (e.g., Slack-based user groups) to validate assumptions quickly.
- • Self-directed yet collaborative: advocates for exceptional UX while incorporating feedback constructively and driving work forward without needing constant direction.
- • Genuine enthusiasm for how AI is transforming product design and user experiences — both as a tool in your workflow and as a capability embedded in the products you design.
- • Comfortable and enthusiastic about working in an AI-forward environment where AI tools are part of daily operations, embracing technology to enhance creativity while keeping people at the center.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive salary range: US $196,000 to $240,000 or CAD $201,900 to $250,000, based on location, experience, and qualifications, with equity and bonus opportunities.
- • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents.
- • Retirement savings plan with company matching and flexible spending accounts (FSA/HSA) to support long-term financial wellness.
- • Generous paid parental leave and paid time off (PTO) to support work-life balance and family needs.
- • Remote work stipend to set up a productive home office, including ergonomic equipment and technology needs.
- • Perks supporting physical, mental, and emotional health, parenting, childcare, and financial planning — including wellness stipends, counseling access, and family resources.
- • Opportunities for career advancement and performance-based growth within a mission-driven company impacting millions of families.
- • Access to AI tools and training as part of Babylist’s intentional integration of technology to amplify impact and innovation.
- • Twice-yearly in-person meetups (company-wide and departmental) to strengthen relationships and collaboration despite remote-first structure.
- • A culture that values focus and intention, with intentional time to recharge and avoid burnout.
