- • Join Okta, The World’s Identity Company, as a Staff Product Designer focused on Emerging Products, a dynamic team dedicated to shaping the future of identity and security. This is a unique opportunity to influence product direction, design innovative solutions for complex challenges, and impact millions of users worldwide.
- • As a Staff Product Designer, you will be instrumental in building and scaling the next wave of identity and security capabilities within Auth0. You will dive deep into cutting-edge areas such as AI + Identity, Cross-App Access, Fine-Grained Authorization (FGA), Token Vault, and AI Integrations, transforming novel ideas into robust, customer-ready products.
- • Your primary responsibility will be to partner closely with Product Management and Engineering teams to define product roadmaps and bring clarity to ambiguous, frontier problems. You will be expected to lead the design process from concept to launch, ensuring a seamless and intuitive user experience.
- • You will design experiences across a variety of platforms, including SDKs, CLIs, APIs, and web interfaces, catering specifically to developers who rely on these tools. The challenge lies in simplifying complex identity and authorization workflows into usable, scalable, and elegant patterns that empower developers.
- • A key aspect of this role involves contributing to and evolving Okta's design system. You will also be responsible for experimenting with and establishing new design patterns that address emerging use cases, ensuring consistency and scalability across the product suite.
- • Collaboration is central to this role. You will work closely with User Researchers to conduct usability testing, gather insights, and translate those findings into actionable design improvements. This iterative process ensures that our designs are user-centered and effective.
- • You will leverage both qualitative and quantitative data to validate design decisions, measure the impact of your work, and inform future iterations. A data-informed approach is crucial for success in this role.
- • Sharing your work early and often is highly encouraged. You will actively participate in design critiques, solicit feedback from peers and stakeholders, and collaborate effectively across different teams to foster a shared understanding and drive alignment.
- • Beyond individual contributions, you will play a vital role in shaping the design culture at Okta. This includes mentoring other designers, helping to raise the bar for design craft, promoting collaborative practices, and championing systems thinking across the organization.
- • The Emerging Products team is at the forefront of innovation, exploring areas like securing AI assistants with identity-aware authorization, enabling seamless cross-app access, implementing real-time, user-specific access control, simplifying secure token management, and developing SDKs and frameworks for AI integrations.
- • This role requires a strategic thinker who can navigate ambiguity and thrive in fast-moving, experimental environments. You will be expected to take ownership of your work, drive projects forward, and contribute to the overall success of the Emerging Products team.
- • Your ability to communicate effectively will be paramount. You must be able to articulate the story behind your design decisions, build consensus among diverse stakeholders, and advocate for user needs.
- • By joining Okta, you will be part of a company that is a leader in identity management, offering a platform that secures and connects people to their technology. You will contribute to a mission that is critical in today's digital landscape, ensuring that identity is at the core of business security and growth.
- • This position offers the chance to work on challenging and impactful projects, grow your career, and be part of a collaborative and innovative design team. You will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the future of identity and security solutions.
- • The role emphasizes a strong understanding of user-centered design principles, a passion for solving complex problems, and a desire to push the boundaries of what's possible in product design, particularly within the developer platform and security space.
- • You will be empowered to experiment, learn, and grow, contributing to a culture that values diverse perspectives and continuous improvement. Your work will directly influence the direction of new product development at Auth0.
- • The ideal candidate will possess a strong portfolio showcasing systems thinking, end-to-end design ownership, and a proven ability to translate abstract concepts into tangible, user-friendly solutions for technical audiences.
- • This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team at the cutting edge of identity technology, working on products that are essential for businesses and developers worldwide.
🎯 Requirements
- • 6+ years of experience in product design, with a preference for experience in developer platforms, B2B SaaS, or technical tools.
- • Strong UI/UX/visual design craft, demonstrated through a portfolio showcasing systems thinking and end-to-end ownership.
- • Proven experience designing for technical audiences, such as SDKs, APIs, developer tooling, or security products.
- • Ability to translate highly technical or abstract problems into usable, elegant, and scalable solutions.
- • Comfort navigating ambiguity and thriving in fast-moving, experimental environments.
- • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and influence outcomes.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive salary range ($140,000 - $192,000 CAD annually) plus equity and bonus opportunities.
- • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
- • RRSP with employer match.
