- • As a Staff Product Designer - Growth (Onboarding) at Kraken, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the first experiences users have with the platform, directly influencing trust, activation, and long-term engagement in the crypto ecosystem. Your work will help democratize access to financial freedom by making onboarding intuitive, secure, and seamless for users worldwide.
- • You will lead end-to-end design of critical user journeys including account creation, identity verification (KYC), and first product access, ensuring these experiences are not only compliant with global regulations but also delightful and trust-building for newcomers and experienced traders alike.
- • You will define and evolve the experience strategy for complex onboarding systems, balancing regulatory demands with user-centered design to reduce friction, improve completion rates, and accelerate time to first value across mobile, web, and desktop platforms.
- • You will partner closely with product, engineering, data, research, and compliance teams to translate behavioral insights, A/B test results, and qualitative research into high-fidelity prototypes and shipped experiences that drive measurable outcomes in activation and retention.
- • You will raise the bar for design excellence across Kraken by leading design reviews, mentoring junior designers, and strengthening the consistency and craft of Kraken’s design language — ensuring visual and interaction patterns are scalable, accessible, and aligned with the brand’s mission.
- • You will apply AI tools thoughtfully to accelerate exploration and iteration — using them to generate concepts, simulate user flows, and test edge cases — while maintaining rigorous design judgment and human-centered oversight.
- • You will operate with high autonomy in a remote-first, fast-growing environment, owning ambiguous, high-impact problems that span multiple systems, teams, and regulatory jurisdictions, and influencing product direction through data-informed storytelling and clear articulation of design rationale.
- • You will contribute to Kraken’s mission of global crypto adoption by designing inclusive, secure, and intuitive onboarding experiences that empower users from over 70 countries and 50+ languages to confidently enter the crypto economy.
- • You will grow as a design leader by shaping Kraken’s design culture, advancing your expertise in regulated fintech environments, and leaving a lasting impact on how millions of users first encounter and trust cryptocurrency.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of end-to-end product design experience with a strong portfolio demonstrating shipped, high-impact mobile and web work, particularly in onboarding, identity verification, or financial services.
- • Proven experience designing in regulated or compliance-heavy environments such as fintech, payments, or KYC/AML processes, with preference for direct cryptocurrency or trading platform experience.
- • Advanced prototyping skills (e.g., Figma, Framer, ProtoPie) to communicate complex interactions, motion, system states, and edge cases, combined with strong visual, UX, and interaction design abilities.
- • Data-informed design mindset: ability to leverage qualitative research, quantitative metrics, experimentation (A/B testing), and behavioral data to drive decisions and measure impact on activation and completion rates.
- • Strong communication and influencing skills: capable of aligning senior stakeholders, leading design critiques, mentoring designers, and driving consensus across product, engineering, data, and compliance teams.
- • Experience working in remote-first, fast-growing organizations with high ownership, bias to action, and comfort navigating ambiguity across large, cross-functional problem spaces.
