📋 Description

• As a Staff Product Designer - Growth (Onboarding) at Kraken, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the first experiences users have with the platform, directly influencing trust, activation, and long-term engagement in the crypto ecosystem. Your work will help democratize access to financial freedom by making onboarding intuitive, secure, and seamless for millions of users worldwide.
• You will lead end-to-end design of critical user journeys including account creation, identity verification (KYC), and first product access, ensuring these experiences are not only compliant with global regulations but also delightful and trust-building for newcomers and experienced traders alike.
• Day to day, you will own large, ambiguous design challenges that span multiple teams and systems, setting strategic direction for onboarding flows while collaborating with product, engineering, data, research, and compliance stakeholders to drive measurable outcomes in activation and time-to-first-value.
• You will define and evolve Kraken’s design language specifically for onboarding surfaces, creating consistent visual and interaction patterns that scale across teams and products, while raising the bar for craft through design reviews, prototyping, and mentorship.
• By leveraging behavioral data, A/B testing, and qualitative research, you will continuously optimize onboarding funnels to improve completion rates and user satisfaction, applying AI tools thoughtfully to accelerate exploration without compromising design judgment.
• You will influence product strategy through strong product thinking and user insight, advocating for user-centered decisions in cross-functional forums and helping shape Kraken’s roadmap for growth and inclusion in the crypto space.

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of end-to-end product design experience with a strong portfolio demonstrating shipped, high-impact mobile and web work, particularly in complex user journeys like onboarding, identity verification, or activation.
• Proven experience designing in regulated or compliance-heavy environments such as fintech, payments, identity verification, or financial services, with KYC experience preferred.
• Strong UX, interaction, and visual design skills, advanced prototyping abilities, and a data-informed approach using experimentation, A/B testing, and behavioral insights to drive measurable outcomes.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders, mentor designers, and lead through influence in ambiguous, cross-functional settings, with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Working knowledge of cryptocurrency and trading, plus familiarity with AI tools and workflows used to accelerate design exploration and iteration.
• High ownership, bias to action, and comfort operating independently in a fast-growing, remote-first organization.
