- • As a Staff Product Engineer at Intercom, you will serve as a technical leader and key contributor within the engineering organization, driving the development of scalable, reliable systems that power Intercom’s AI Customer Service Suite, including the industry-leading AI agent Fin, which enables businesses to deliver always-on, impeccable customer experiences to nearly 30,000 global customers.
- • You will play a pivotal role in shaping technical strategy, mentoring fellow engineers, and collaborating cross-functionally with product, design, research, and data teams to ensure engineering excellence aligns with customer value and business goals.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities will include contributing to the evolution of Intercom’s technical architecture to support growing scale from customers’ end-users, advocating for agility alongside scalability and availability through continuous deployment and feature flagging.
- • You will engage in all phases of the software development lifecycle — from ideation and prototyping to design and implementation — balancing hands-on coding with architectural leadership to deliver meaningful product improvements.
- • You will leverage Intercom’s investment in AI-powered developer tools to reduce friction and focus on solving complex, high-impact problems, while maintaining a strong emphasis on performance, reliability, and operational excellence.
- • You will actively participate in hiring, mentoring, and career development of other engineers, helping to raise technical standards and foster a culture of growth and accountability within the team.
- • You will partner closely with the Engineering Manager to develop team capabilities, refine technical strategy, and ensure alignment between engineering efforts and product outcomes.
- • You will collaborate directly with product managers, designers, and researchers to translate customer needs into technical solutions, drawing on a proven track record of delivering user-centric value in cross-disciplinary environments.
- • You will contribute to a culture of technical pragmatism and speed, where incremental releases and feature flags enable rapid innovation without compromising system stability or user experience.
- • You will help uphold Intercom’s core values of pushing boundaries, building with speed and intensity, and delivering incredible value — all while working in a hybrid environment that prioritizes in-person collaboration (minimum three days per week in Dublin) to strengthen team cohesion and culture.
🎯 Requirements
- • Significant, demonstrated impact from your work on products and/or teams, with evidence of driving meaningful outcomes in previous roles.
- • Deep knowledge of a high-level programming language (e.g., Ruby, Python, Perl), with the ability to quickly learn or introduce new technologies; prior experience with Intercom’s stack is not required.
- • Proven experience with distributed systems, including design, implementation, and operational considerations for scalability and fault tolerance.
- • Minimum of 2+ years of experience as the primary technical leader for a team, including responsibilities in mentoring, architecture, and technical decision-making.
- • Experience collaborating directly with product teams and designers, with a strong track record of delivering customer or user value through cross-functional partnership.
- • A genuine passion for building SaaS products that users love and rely on, motivated by the impact of your work on real-world customers.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive salary and equity package in a fast-growing, innovative startup environment with significant market traction.
- • Daily catered lunch, snack options, and a fully stocked kitchen to support well-being and convenience during workdays.
- • Regular compensation reviews to ensure pay reflects performance and contributions.
- • Employer-matched pension scheme up to 4%, plus life assurance and comprehensive health and dental insurance for employees and dependents.
- • Flexible paid time off policy, including paid maternity leave and 6 weeks of paid paternity leave to support family bonding.
- • Support for sustainable commuting via the Cycle-to-Work Scheme, including secure bike storage facilities.
- • Provision of MacBooks as standard equipment, with Windows availability for roles requiring it.
- • Hybrid working policy requiring at least three days per week in the Dublin office to foster connection, collaboration, and culture, while allowing flexibility for remote work.
