- • Lead the product strategy for Ask Acorns, Acorns’ AI-powered conversational assistant, across both the Acorns and Acorns Early brands to advance financial wellness for everyday people and families.
- • Own and drive the Ask Acorns product roadmap, collaborating with product teams in Financial Planning, Financial Products, Families, and Growth to align priorities, surface dependencies, and sequence capabilities in service of the broader product vision.
- • Partner with design teams to define and refine Ask Acorns’ voice, tone, persona, and boundary handling to create a cohesive, human-centered conversational experience.
- • Build the strategic framework for Ask Acorns’ core skills and capabilities, including memory, longitudinal understanding, proactivity, conversation threading, and safety guardrails.
- • Define and establish the quality and performance standards for Ask Acorns in collaboration with engineering, focusing on latency, reliability, and integration with the broader Acorns product ecosystem.
- • Design and implement success metrics and evaluation infrastructure, partnering with research to build customer feedback loops and using conversation transcripts and system instrumentation to detect issues and drive iterative improvements.
- • Evolve internal processes and ways of working to accelerate the quality and speed of AI product development across teams.
- • Apply deep technical fluency in conversational AI systems—including prompt engineering, memory architecture, guardrails, and evaluation methodologies—to make informed tradeoffs with engineering teams.
- • Use data-driven instincts to identify key performance indicators, analyze system behavior with depth, and hold teams accountable through measurable outcomes.
- • Demonstrate strong executive presence and communication skills to align cross-functional teams, build organizational buy-in, and present strategic updates to senior leadership and the CEO.
- • Actively use AI tools to prototype ideas, stress-test assumptions, and accelerate product development cycles.
- • Maintain a customer-obsessed mindset with genuine empathy for the financial lives, hopes, and fears of everyday Americans.
- • Operate with a bias for speed and action, making decisions with incomplete information while upholding the rigor required in a regulated financial environment.
- • Drive delivery with exceptional precision and an unwavering commitment to creating game-changing products that align with Acorns’ mission of societal change.
🎯 Requirements
- • 10+ years of product management experience, with at least 2 years building and shipping conversational AI products
- • Deep understanding of conversational AI systems, including prompt engineering, memory, guardrails, and evals
- • Ability to define clear product strategy and translate it into a roadmap balancing near-term execution with strategic bets
- • Strong data instincts: ability to identify key metrics, analyze performance, and use data to drive decisions and accountability
- • Executive presence and communication skills to align teams, build buy-in, and present to senior leadership and the CEO
- • Hands-on experience using AI tools to prototype ideas and accelerate product development
