- • Design, develop, and maintain reliability engineering systems for Mainspring’s Linear Generator electrical systems, ensuring long-term operational integrity under diverse load and environmental conditions.
- • Lead root cause analysis of electrical system failures in field-deployed units, collaborating with manufacturing, field service, and product teams to implement corrective actions and prevent recurrence.
- • Develop and execute accelerated life testing protocols for electrical components, including power electronics, wiring harnesses, and control systems, to validate durability and predict service life.
- • Create and maintain reliability metrics and KPIs for electrical subsystems, tracking failure rates, mean time between failures (MTBF), and field return rates to inform product improvements.
- • Partner with supply chain and procurement teams to qualify and audit electrical component suppliers, ensuring compliance with reliability standards and performance specifications.
- • Author and update technical documentation including reliability test plans, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) reports, and design for reliability (DfR) guidelines.
- • Support field deployment of new generator models by providing reliability engineering input during pilot installations and early customer deployments.
- • Work closely with software and firmware teams to ensure electrical system reliability is maintained across hardware-software interfaces, including diagnostics, fault detection, and remote monitoring systems.
- • Participate in design reviews for new electrical architectures, providing reliability-focused feedback on component selection, thermal management, and fault tolerance.
- • Represent reliability engineering in cross-functional project teams, aligning reliability goals with product timelines, cost targets, and customer requirements.
- • Stay current with industry standards for electrical system reliability (e.g., MIL-HDBK-217, IEC 61508, IEEE standards) and apply relevant methodologies to Mainspring’s product development lifecycle.
- • Train and mentor junior engineers on reliability engineering best practices, tools, and documentation standards.
- • Respond to critical field reliability incidents with rapid diagnostic support, including remote and on-site troubleshooting as needed.
- • Collaborate with customer success and technical support teams to translate customer-reported electrical anomalies into actionable engineering data.
- • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the company’s reliability engineering processes and tools, ensuring scalability as production volume and geographic deployment expand.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; Master’s preferred
- • Minimum of 7 years of experience in reliability engineering focused on electrical systems or power electronics
- • Proven track record of leading reliability analysis and failure investigation for high-reliability electrical products
- • Expertise in FMEA, FRACAS, and accelerated life testing methodologies
- • Experience with statistical reliability modeling tools (e.g., Weibull analysis, Monte Carlo simulation)
- • Familiarity with industry standards for electrical system reliability (e.g., MIL-HDBK-217, IEC 61508)
