• • As a Staff Software Developer at Smile Digital Health Inc., you will play a pivotal role in advancing the company’s mission of #BetterGlobalHealth by contributing to a leading FHIR-based health data platform used in over 20 countries, directly enabling secure, interoperable healthcare data exchange that improves patient outcomes and care coordination worldwide.
• • You will serve as a technical leader and mentor, driving high-impact software initiatives from concept to production while fostering a culture of engineering excellence, collaboration, and innovation across distributed teams in a remote-first environment.
• • Your day-to-day responsibilities will include gathering and analyzing product requirements from cross-functional stakeholders, translating clinical and operational needs into scalable technical designs, and leading the architecture, implementation, and testing of complex system components using modern development practices.
• • You will actively evaluate and resolve intricate system challenges related to data integrity, performance, security, and FHIR compliance, ensuring the platform remains robust, extensible, and aligned with evolving healthcare interoperability standards.
• • A core aspect of your role will involve guiding and mentoring associate-level Software Developers through code reviews, technical workshops, and pair programming, helping to elevate team capabilities and promote best practices in software craftsmanship.
• • You will collaborate closely with product, DevOps, QA, and clinical teams to ensure seamless integration of new features, participate in agile ceremonies, and contribute to continuous improvement of development workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
• • You will champion technical excellence by advocating for clean code, automated testing, observability, and documentation standards, while identifying opportunities to refactor legacy components and improve system maintainability.
