Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • Fanvue is experiencing explosive growth, having recently secured Series A funding and surpassing $100M+ in Annual Recurring Revenue with triple-digit year-on-year expansion. We are a global leader in creator monetization, leveraging AI to empower creators to connect, engage, and earn directly from their audiences at scale. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our platform, tackling complex engineering challenges that demand seasoned expertise in building and scaling robust systems. This is an exceptional opportunity to apply your deep technical knowledge to immediate, visible impact within an AI-native environment, where your contributions will directly influence the reliability and scalability of a platform serving hundreds of thousands of creators and millions of fans worldwide.
- • You will be instrumental in leading critical technical initiatives that are fundamental to our platform's scalability and reliability, especially as we navigate triple-digit growth. Your primary focus will be on the strategic evolution of our technology stack, moving from our current PostgreSQL foundation towards a sophisticated event-driven architecture. This transition requires a forward-thinking approach to system design and implementation, ensuring our infrastructure can gracefully handle exponential increases in user traffic and data volume.
- • A key responsibility will be driving the decomposition of our existing monolith into a microservices architecture. You will leverage proven patterns and your extensive experience in this domain to guide this complex process, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition that minimizes disruption and maximizes long-term maintainability. This involves identifying service boundaries, designing inter-service communication mechanisms, and establishing best practices for distributed systems.
- • Optimizing our PostgreSQL databases for high-throughput workloads will be another significant area of focus. You will be responsible for designing and implementing advanced database optimization strategies, including query tuning, indexing, partitioning, and replication, to ensure peak performance and data integrity under immense load. This expertise is crucial for maintaining a responsive and reliable user experience.
- • You will architect and build the core AI infrastructure that underpins our innovative product features. This includes developing and scaling vector stores, designing efficient embedding pipelines, and orchestrating complex Large Language Model (LLM) interactions. Your work will directly enable advanced AI-powered functionalities such as automated chat, intelligent content moderation, and personalized recommendation systems.
- • Beyond core infrastructure, you will architect systems that enable the seamless integration and deployment of AI-powered features across the platform. This requires a deep understanding of how to build scalable, resilient, and maintainable systems that can adapt to the rapidly evolving landscape of AI technologies.
- • You will be at the forefront of adopting and defining standards for AI-assisted development tools, such as Cursor and Claude Code. Your role will involve not only utilizing these tools to accelerate delivery but also guiding the broader engineering team in their effective adoption, helping to establish new benchmarks for developer productivity and code quality.
- • A significant aspect of this role involves building platform primitives – foundational components and services that empower other engineering teams to develop and deploy their features more rapidly and efficiently. This focus on enabling internal teams fosters a culture of innovation and accelerates overall product development.
- • As a Staff Software Engineer, you are expected to be a technical leader and mentor. You will elevate the skills and knowledge of engineers across the organization through constructive code reviews, insightful design sessions, and hands-on pair programming. Your mentorship will foster a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
- • You will actively contribute to high-level architecture decisions and the overall technical strategy of the company. This involves providing expert technical guidance, evaluating new technologies, and ensuring our architectural roadmap aligns with business objectives and future growth.
- • You will participate actively in incident response, taking ownership of resolving critical issues and driving post-incident reviews to implement lasting reliability improvements. Your proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks will be essential for maintaining platform stability.
🎯 Requirements
- • 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience building and shipping scalable systems, with a proven track record of success in distributed environments serving tens of millions of Monthly Active Users (MAU).
- • Deep expertise in at least one of the following programming languages: TypeScript, Node.js, or Go, coupled with extensive experience using AWS services for building and deploying cloud-native applications.
- • Strong, practical experience with PostgreSQL at scale, encompassing advanced techniques such as query optimization, database partitioning, and replication strategies to ensure high performance and availability.
- • Demonstrated experience with service-oriented architectures (SOA) and proven success in decomposing monolithic applications using established patterns like the Strangler Fig pattern or Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
- • Familiarity with AI and ML infrastructure, including practical experience with vector databases, embedding generation pipelines, and interacting with LLM APIs. Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) is highly desirable.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive salary and equity package commensurate with a Staff level role at a rapidly growing Series A company.
- • Opportunity to make a significant impact on a globally recognized creator monetization platform experiencing triple-digit growth.
- • Work in an AI-native environment where artificial intelligence is core to both the product and the engineering culture.
- • A clear and proven Individual Contributor (IC) track, valuing deep technical expertise and offering a path for career progression without necessarily moving into management.
- • Fully remote working environment with the flexibility to work from anywhere, supplemented by an optional London office for collaboration and in-person connection.
- • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans to support your well-being.
- • Generous paid time off (PTO) policy, including holidays and sick leave, to ensure a healthy work-life balance.
- • Professional development budget to support continuous learning, conference attendance, and skill enhancement.
- • Regular team offsites and social events (where applicable and safe) to foster strong team cohesion and camaraderie.
