• The Engineering team at H2 is responsible for the development of EASE (Exercise Architect Suite), a powerful tool designed for military, intelligence, law enforcement, and emergency response organizations. EASE simplifies the creation of large-scale training exercises, significantly reducing the manual effort traditionally required. Our current strategic focus is on integrating generative AI features, specifically utilizing Large Language Models (LLMs), to produce relevant and dynamic training content. Our technology stack is predominantly built on Typescript and Vue.js, reflecting our commitment to modern, efficient development practices.
• As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be a key technical leader, driving the architectural design and implementation of high-impact features within the EASE platform. Your responsibilities will extend across multiple engineering teams, acting as an organizational multiplier by coaching senior software engineers and fostering a culture of engineering excellence throughout the department. You will be pivotal in gathering stakeholder feedback, translating it into well-defined features that precisely meet customer needs, and championing the adoption of new, cutting-edge technologies that offer a strategic advantage to our clients and the company.
• Your role will involve leading the technical response for large-scale, critical production incidents, ensuring the stability and reliability of our systems. You will also be responsible for writing proposals, conducting rigorous code experiments, and building prototypes to validate innovative concepts. A significant part of your contribution will be to partner closely with Product and Executive leadership, influencing both the direction of our product development and the methodologies we employ. You will play a crucial role in defining the technical roadmap, identifying opportunities for technical and process improvements, and enhancing our CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment and administration.
• Furthermore, you will be deeply involved in maintaining and diagnosing our software as it operates in production environments, whether in the cloud or within customer data centers, providing essential support to our clientele. Driving performance and scalability improvements will be a continuous effort, ensuring our platform can meet the demands of increasingly complex training scenarios. You will also be tasked with teaching advanced coding practices, architectural patterns, and software development best practices to your colleagues, while meticulously reviewing and approving code contributions to uphold the highest standards of quality, security, and compliance.

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of experience building complex web applications and backend services as a full-stack engineer, with at least 4 years in a Senior, Staff, or Principal level role with scope extending beyond a single team.
• Exceptional architecture and software design skills, with a recognized subject matter expertise across a broad range of systems and technologies.
• Advanced knowledge of reactive UI frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js) and extensive experience with TypeScript, alongside proficiency in other modern programming languages.
• Deep experience with Linux, Docker containers, and architecting microservices and large-scale distributed systems for performance, scalability, and high availability.
• Eligibility for a Canadian Top Secret security clearance is mandatory due to the nature of our work.
