- • Join SandboxAQ, a dynamic, high-growth company at the forefront of delivering advanced AI solutions that tackle some of the world's most significant challenges. We are a global, tech-focused team comprised of experts spanning AI, chemistry, cybersecurity, physics, mathematics, medicine, engineering, and various other specialized fields. SandboxAQ emerged as an independent entity from Alphabet Inc. in 2022, backed by leading investors and a distinguished braintrust of industry leaders. Our culture is built on fostering creativity, collaboration, and impactful contributions. By investing significantly in our people, we are cultivating a thriving, global workforce poised to address monumental global challenges. This is an exceptional opportunity to advance your career, pursue an inspiring mission, and become part of a community of like-minded individuals who deeply value entrepreneurialism, ownership, and transformative impact.
- • The Cybersecurity Group at SandboxAQ operates as a fast-paced, innovative team dedicated to the development and delivery of AQtive Guard, a revolutionary solution for modern non-human identity and cryptography management. We engage in close collaboration with product managers and security researchers, translating intricate requirements into robust, scalable technical designs tailored for global financial institutions and government agencies. As a Staff Software Engineer within this group, you will play a pivotal role in functionalizing AQtive Guard by taking charge of the design, development, and ongoing maintenance of mission-critical services. You will primarily utilize Kotlin and Go, pushing the boundaries of system performance and reliability.
- • This role demands an engineer who is proactive, thrives in the agile and often ambiguous environment of a startup, and possesses a profound passion for building fault-tolerant, highly available distributed systems. You will be instrumental in ensuring our systems can handle high-throughput, low-latency processing of critical security data, leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as Kubernetes for orchestration and Kafka for asynchronous data streaming.
- • Key responsibilities will include:
- • Designing, developing, and maintaining mission-critical microservices using Kotlin and Go, with a focus on deploying and managing these services effectively on Kubernetes to support global-scale operations.
- • Implementing and optimizing asynchronous data processing pipelines using Kafka and KStreams, ensuring that our systems consistently meet stringent, low-latency performance requirements essential for security-sensitive applications.
- • Championing technical excellence across the team by defining and implementing best practices for building and operating distributed systems. This includes actively mentoring other engineers through thorough code reviews, constructive design discussions, and knowledge sharing sessions.
- • Driving significant performance optimization and tuning initiatives to ensure our systems meet the rigorous reliability and scalability demands of our top-tier financial and government clients.
- • Taking full ownership of complex, end-to-end projects, demonstrating a proactive, self-directed approach and a high tolerance for ambiguity inherent in a rapidly evolving startup environment.
- • Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, security research, and other engineering groups, to define technical roadmaps and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- • Contributing to the architectural evolution of AQtive Guard, ensuring its long-term scalability, security, and maintainability.
- • Developing and maintaining robust monitoring, alerting, and logging strategies to ensure the health and operational stability of our distributed systems.
- • Participating in on-call rotations to provide timely support and resolution for production incidents, ensuring minimal disruption to our clients.
- • Staying abreast of the latest advancements in distributed systems, cloud-native technologies, and cybersecurity best practices, and applying this knowledge to enhance our platform.
- • Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and knowledge sharing within the Cybersecurity Group and the broader engineering organization.
- • Ensuring that all developed solutions adhere to the highest standards of security, compliance, and data privacy, particularly given the sensitive nature of the data processed by AQtive Guard.
