- • As a Staff Software Engineer for the Platform Engineering team at Rula Health, you will be at the heart of our engineering operations, ensuring our systems are robust, efficient, and scalable. You will play a critical role in supporting the mission to destigmatize mental health care by maintaining the reliable infrastructure that enables therapists and patients to connect seamlessly through our platform.
- • Your work will directly impact the delivery of evidence-based, compassionate mental healthcare by ensuring high availability, performance, and security of the systems that power Rula’s services, making mental health support accessible and trustworthy for individuals across the United States.
- • Day to day, you will collaborate with application engineering teams to enhance observability across platforms, implement SRE best practices, and drive improvements in system reliability and performance through data-driven decision making.
- • You will design, build, and maintain reliable CI/CD pipelines, automation tooling, and infrastructure-as-code solutions to streamline software delivery and reduce deployment friction across engineering teams.
- • You will participate in on-call rotations to monitor, diagnose, and resolve incidents in mission-critical environments, ensuring Service Level Objectives (SLOs) are met for both internal stakeholders and external users.
- • You will work with Kubernetes and AWS to manage, optimize, and scale containerized applications and cloud resources, applying best practices for cost efficiency, security, and resilience.
- • You will contribute to the evolution of our platform by defining and refining service level indicators (SLIs), error budgets, and incident response procedures, fostering a culture of reliability and continuous improvement.
- • You will mentor and influence engineering teams through knowledge sharing, blameless postmortems, and advocacy for SRE principles, helping to embed reliability and operational excellence into the DNA of our engineering practices.
- • You will have the opportunity to shape the future of our platform architecture by identifying technical debt, proposing scalable solutions, and leading initiatives that improve system observability, fault tolerance, and operational efficiency.
- • You will grow as a technical leader by tackling complex, ambiguous problems in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment, gaining deep expertise in modern SRE practices while contributing to a company that values mental health, equity, and innovation.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of experience with Site Reliability Engineering and/or DevOps, with a proven ability to work independently on complex projects and drive technical outcomes.
- • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Kubernetes (or equivalent container orchestration platforms) in production environments.
- • 5+ years of extensive experience with AWS, including core services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, and CloudWatch.
- • Demonstrated experience implementing and applying SRE fundamentals, including monitoring, alerting, metrics, logging, and application performance monitoring (APM) in mission-critical systems.
- • Proven track record of participating in on-call rotations and leading incident response efforts to maintain and improve Service Level Objectives (SLOs).
- • Strong collaboration skills with experience working across engineering and product teams to influence change and align technical initiatives with business goals.
🏖️ Benefits
- • 100% remote work environment with flexible hours to support work-life balance, available to employees based in any U.S. state except Hawaii.
- • Comprehensive health benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, disability insurance, and FSA/HSA accounts.
- • Access to a 401(k) retirement plan with company support for long-term financial planning.
- • Generous time-off policies, including two company-wide shutdown weeks per year dedicated to self-care and mental wellness.
- • Paid parental leave for all parents, covering birthing, non-birthing, adopting, and fostering scenarios.
- • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offering confidential support for mental and physical health challenges.
- • New hire home office stipend to help set up a productive and ergonomic remote workspace.
