Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the heartbeat of Daniels Sharpsmart’s Baltimore facility as our Stationary Engineer & Maintenance Supervisor—where every valve you turn and every alarm you silence keeps life-saving medical-waste processing running 24/7. You will be the on-site guardian of our robotic washline, autoclaves, high-pressure boilers, and auxiliary systems, ensuring zero unplanned downtime for a plant that services hospitals across the Mid-Atlantic.
- • Lead a tight-knit crew of 2–3 custodial and entry-level maintenance specialists, coaching them on safety, precision, and pride of workmanship while scheduling daily cleaning, weekly PMs, and emergency call-outs. Your leadership directly shapes a culture where “good enough” is never enough.
- • Perform hands-on diagnostics, repair, and overhaul of mechanical, electrical, and PLC-controlled equipment. From replacing a ruptured gasket on a 150-psi steam line to recalibrating a servo motor on the robotic washline, you’ll use multimeters, ultrasonic testers, and tablet-based schematics to restore peak performance.
- • Monitor real-time data streams from SCADA dashboards, pressure transducers, and chemical-feed skids. You’ll interpret trends, predict failures, and trigger work orders in Maintain-X before alarms ever reach operations—turning reactive fixes into proactive wins.
- • Coordinate with our global Service & Engineering teams to stage spare parts, schedule vendor visits, and roll out capital upgrades on time and under budget. Your weekly reports—compiled in Excel and narrated in MS Word—will influence multi-million-dollar reliability decisions.
- • Provide 24/7 phone support for Baltimore and remote sister plants. When a boiler flame-out threatens production in Richmond at 2 a.m., you’ll triage via secure VPN, dispatch parts, and—if needed—hit the road to bring the site back online before sunrise.
- • Manage a living inventory of critical spares: bearings, solenoids, safety valves, and OEM sensors. You’ll balance on-hand costs against risk, leveraging min-max formulas and supplier lead-times so that “out of stock” is a phrase no one at Daniels ever hears.
- • Plan and execute scheduled outages, negotiating downtime windows with plant leadership, sterilization teams, and logistics. Your Gantt charts and lock-out/tag-out protocols ensure every minute of downtime yields maximum reliability gain.
- • Champion safety and compliance—conducting boiler inspections per Maryland law, logging chemical test results, and updating OSHA 300 logs. Your meticulous documentation keeps inspectors happy and teammates safe.
- • Step up as the go-to leader for facility-wide needs—covering supervisors during vacations, guiding fire-drill evacuations, and even pitching in on shipping when hurricanes threaten outbound loads. Your versatility makes you the glue that holds the plant together.
- • Drive continuous improvement: pilot IoT sensors on steam traps, redesign lube routes to cut PM time by 20 %, or introduce 5S shadow boards that cut tool-search time in half. Your Kaizen mindset turns everyday frustrations into measurable gains.
- • Cultivate external partnerships—negotiating same-day deliveries with Baltimore Gas & Electric, scheduling OEM training with autoclave manufacturers, and leveraging union apprenticeship programs to build the next generation of stationary engineers.
🎯 Requirements
- • Current and active Maryland Third Grade Stationary Engineer’s license (must remain valid throughout employment)
- • 3+ years hands-on maintenance experience with high-pressure boilers, autoclaves, and production machinery
- • Demonstrated ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot 24 VDC to 480 VAC circuits with multimeters and megohmmeters
- • Experience supervising or mentoring entry-level technicians in a 24/7 industrial environment (preferred)
- • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and CMMS platforms such as Maintain-X or Myosh for data logging and report writing
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive base salary plus quarterly safety & uptime bonuses tied to plant OEE
- • Company-paid continuous education: Maryland license renewal, boiler operator certifications, and OEM factory training
- • Full medical, dental, and vision coverage starting day one, plus 401(k) with 4 % company match and immediate vesting
- • 3 weeks PTO in year one, 10 paid holidays, and a flexible on-call rotation that averages one weekend per month with compensatory time off
