Our global, remote team comprises over 700 dedicated individuals, and we have achieved profitability since 2022. We facilitate millions of shifts annually for partner workplaces across the US, serving tens of thousands of professionals each year. We are seeking a Strategic Finance Lead to join our growing team and contribute to our ongoing success.
• • This pivotal role establishes Clipboard's first dedicated Strategic Finance function. The Strategic Finance Lead will assume complete, end-to-end ownership of mapping and analyzing all finance-related operational workflows. Reporting directly to the Chief of Staff of Revenue & Finance, this is an individual contributor position without direct reports.
• • The scope of this role extends far beyond mere documentation. It demands an individual who can cultivate strong trust with Operations leaders, gain an intricate understanding of business operations, and transform complex marketplace data into actionable strategic insights grounded in financial clarity. This position is crucial for driving informed decision-making across the organization.
• • The Strategic Finance team possesses a unique cross-functional perspective, offering visibility into the interconnectedness of every team, revenue stream, and expenditure. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping how Clipboard evaluates investments, establishes ROI thresholds, and refines operational processes to enhance overall efficiency.
• • We are looking for a candidate who is both rigorously detail-oriented and capable of stepping back to grasp the broader strategic picture. This individual must be adept at engaging with senior leadership to guide financial decision-making processes. We envision this role as a financial generalist – exceptionally intelligent, deeply inquisitive, and possessing the sound judgment to discern when to delve into granular details and when to adopt a high-level perspective.
• • Key responsibilities include partnering closely with Finance, Operations, Engineering, and other departments to harmonize upstream and downstream processes, effectively resolving points of friction and ambiguity. This collaborative approach ensures seamless workflow integration and operational efficiency.
• • The role involves leveraging the unique cross-functional vantage point to identify insights that might be missed by siloed teams, thereby setting the strategic direction for the company, its various verticals, and individual departments. This holistic view is essential for informed strategic planning.
• • A significant aspect of the role is synthesizing findings from process analysis and operational data into clear, concise recommendations for senior leadership. This includes pinpointing inefficiencies, potential risks, control gaps, and inconsistencies throughout the entire process lifecycle, and providing structured, data-backed recommendations for improvement.
• • The Strategic Finance Lead will analyze the impact of each workflow, input, and operational decision on financial reporting, forecasting, reconciliation, and downstream accuracy. This deep dive ensures that operational activities align with financial objectives and reporting integrity.
• • A core duty is to build detailed documentation, process models, and operational frameworks that enhance clarity and visibility regarding how financial information flows throughout the organization. This structured approach standardizes processes and improves understanding.
• • Support for Finance leadership will involve conducting deep-dive investigations, performing root-cause analyses, and contributing to redesign efforts for high-impact or complex workflows. This ensures that critical financial processes are robust and optimized.
