- • Strategic Initiatives at OpenAI’s Codex team is a high-impact role focused on transforming how software is built by turning AI-powered code generation into real-world developer workflows—this role sits at the frontier of AI adoption, where technical builders shape the future of human-AI collaboration in engineering.
- • You will operate as a technical generalist driving 0→1 and 1→n initiatives that bridge research, engineering, product, and go-to-market, turning ambiguous opportunities into shipped solutions that accelerate Codex adoption and define new paradigms for AI-assisted software development.
- • Day to day, you will identify high-leverage, ambiguous problems across the Codex ecosystem and execute on them with speed and ownership—spotting where AI agents can unlock new value before others see the opportunity.
- • You will prototype and ship agent-driven workflows, tools, and integrations rapidly, using any stack that gets the job done, turning ideas into working demos or production systems in days or weeks, not quarters.
- • You will work directly with users, customers, and partner companies to deeply understand real-world developer pain points and translate those insights into concrete technical solutions, product directions, and adoption strategies.
- • You will collaborate closely with research, engineering, and product teams to shape Codex’s capabilities, roadmap, and best practices, ensuring that technical advances are matched with usable, trustworthy, and impactful product experiences.
- • You will build internal tools, demos, or production systems that lower the barrier to entry for Codex adoption—whether that’s creating templates for common engineering tasks, designing evaluation harnesses, or crafting onboarding flows for enterprise teams.
- • You will help define what it means to work effectively with AI agents in software development—crafting guidelines, patterns, and mental models that empower engineers to trust, steer, and amplify AI collaborators in their daily workflows.
- • You will operate with high autonomy and context, expected to figure things out from first principles, make decisions with incomplete information, and ship quickly—thriving in environments where the path is unclear but the potential impact is enormous.

🎯 Requirements
- • Strong software engineering background with proven ability to ship projects end-to-end, regardless of stack—demonstrated through personal projects, open source contributions, or professional experience building and launching technical systems.
- • Comfortable thriving in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where goals are evolving and success is defined by impact, not process—able to go from idea to prototype to iteration rapidly without needing perfect specifications.
- • Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical ideas clearly to both technical audiences (engineers, researchers) and non-technical stakeholders (product, leadership, partners).
