Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • This role is designed for a strategic and commercially-minded individual who thrives in complex, cross-functional environments, acting as a critical problem-solver at the intersection of legal, compliance, revenue, and business strategy.
- • You will be an "operator" tasked with translating legal and compliance constraints into actionable business decisions, thereby unblocking revenue, delivery, and overall company growth.
- • A key aspect of this role involves pressure-testing new business ideas and initiatives before significant resources are committed, ensuring strategic alignment and mitigating risks.
- • You will operate across various departments, including Sales, Client Success, Marketing, Compliance, and Leadership, fostering collaboration and driving integrated solutions.
- • This position demands ownership of complex, high-leverage initiatives that may not fit neatly into a single functional silo, requiring a proactive and adaptable approach.
- • The role is defined by its dynamic nature, focusing on "what matters most right now" rather than adhering to rigid job descriptions.
- • You will report directly to the Head of Compliance (solid-line) and receive guidance from the CEO (dotted-line), indicating a high level of trust and visibility.
- • This is a senior individual contributor (IC) role, emphasizing autonomy, independent operation, and the ability to influence executive decisions.
- • You will be empowered to make recommendations that executives will act upon, taking full ownership of outcomes rather than just performing analysis.
- • The role offers significant runway for growth, with potential paths into deeper ownership of legal, compliance, and risk management, broader strategic operations leadership, or ownership of new initiatives and business lines.
- • For individuals demonstrating exceptional judgment and execution, there's a potential pathway into a General Manager (GM) role, offering significant career optionality.
- • Your time will be spent engaging in a variety of high-impact activities, such as joining Sales calls to structure deals, negotiate Master Service Agreements (MSAs), and resolve contract issues.
- • You will collaborate with Client Success and Account Management teams to renegotiate scope, pricing, or address edge cases in ongoing client engagements.
- • Partnering with Marketing, you'll pressure-test positioning, claims, and go-to-market strategies to ensure compliance and commercial viability.
- • You will coordinate with external counsel to address specific legal questions and translate their guidance into practical, actionable business steps.
- • The role involves owning insurance workflows, ensuring alignment with client requirements and operational realities, including coverage, renewals, and exceptions.
- • Building financial models in Google Sheets will be crucial for evaluating the viability and potential return on investment of new initiatives.
- • You will actively assist leadership in critical decision-making processes, such as determining whether to pursue new ventures and how best to structure them.
- • A core function is the constant movement between understanding legal constraints, commercial incentives, and operational realities, with the primary job being the effective translation of these elements.
- • As a Cross-Functional Business Operator, you will work directly with Sales on deal structuring, contract negotiation, and objection resolution.
- • In Client Success & Account Management, you'll handle amendments, expansions, renewals, and exceptions.
- • With Marketing, you'll contribute to positioning, messaging, and compliance-aware strategy development.
- • You will engage with Compliance & Legal teams on risk assessment, delivery, and execution, acting as a thought partner and problem owner, not merely a reviewer.
- • Your involvement in Legal, Contracting & Insurance will include owning the negotiation and execution of MSAs and commercial terms, balancing protection with speed and pragmatism.
- • You will serve as the primary interface with external general counsel and manage insurance workflows from end-to-end.
- • The objective is not to produce perfect legal documents, but rather to achieve clean, effective decisions that remain sound over time.
- • Demonstrating strong Commercial Judgment & Financial Thinking involves building and analyzing models, understanding P&Ls, and pressure-testing new initiatives for unit economics, risk exposure, and scalability.
- • You are expected to provide leadership with clear, directional recommendations, thinking like an operator focused on practical outcomes.
- • Special Projects & New Initiatives will see you involved in evaluating new product/service ideas, expansion into new markets, handling risk-heavy or ambiguous initiatives, and leading projects that span multiple teams without a clear owner.
- • Success in the first 90 days includes becoming a trusted partner across departments, confidently participating in client and internal strategy calls, streamlining contracting and insurance processes, and being involved in leadership decisions early.
- • Within 6-12 months, success is marked by fewer bottlenecks and surprises, the establishment of clear frameworks for evaluating new initiatives, and proactive engagement from teams who recognize your value in improving processes.
- • The ideal candidate possesses legal fluency but prefers a commercial operator role, enjoys making judgment calls in ambiguous situations, is comfortable interacting with clients and executives, can model effectively in Sheets, read a P&L, and seeks variety in their work.
- • Strong fits often include ex-law-school operators, legal ops professionals with commercial acumen, or consultants/operators with significant contract and risk exposure.
- • This role is not suited for those who wish to focus solely on legal matters but is ideal for individuals eager to engage with multiple facets of a growing business.
- • The long-term growth path is earned and optional, potentially leading to building and leading a legal/compliance/commercial ops function, taking ownership of complex initiatives, helping launch new divisions, or growing into a GM role based on demonstrated judgment, ownership, and results.
- • You are not guaranteed a title but are given the opportunity to earn one through impactful contributions.
- • This role is perfect for those seeking exposure to real business decision-making, the chance to run aspects of a business, and work that is consistently dynamic and challenging.
- • Candidates must be based in LATAM, Africa, or Eastern Europe and available to work during U.S. business hours aligned with client time zones.
- • To apply, candidates must complete the application form and record a video showcasing their skill sets.
