đź“‹ Description
- • As a System Integration & Validation Engineer at 1st Avenue Power LLC, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and compliance of our utility-scale renewable energy power plants. You will be the crucial link between sophisticated software systems and robust physical hardware, architecting and implementing the infrastructure necessary to rigorously test these complex systems at scale. Your work will directly impact the successful deployment and operation of clean energy solutions that power communities and businesses worldwide.
- • You will be instrumental in defining and managing system-level requirements for large-scale renewable energy projects. This involves translating high-level project goals and grid operator mandates into detailed, actionable technical specifications that guide the design and development of our power systems. Your meticulous approach to requirements management will lay the foundation for a robust and compliant final product.
- • A core aspect of your role will be to own and execute comprehensive validation plans. This includes developing detailed Design Verification Performance Reporting (DVPR) strategies tailored for utility-scale power grid integration. You will be responsible for validating both AC/DC systems and Medium Voltage (MV) architectures, ensuring they meet stringent performance criteria under a wide range of operational scenarios.
- • Ensuring compliance with critical industry standards is paramount. You will be responsible for verifying that our systems fully comply with UL 1741 and IEEE 1547 standards. This involves designing and conducting rigorous testing protocols to validate protection functions, grid-interactive behaviors, and overall system safety and performance in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- • You will design, build, and maintain sophisticated full-system test beds. These environments will integrate essential components such as high-voltage DC-DC converters, advanced battery simulators, and photovoltaic (PV) emulators. The goal is to create realistic simulation environments that accurately replicate real-world grid conditions, enabling thorough testing and validation before deployment.
- • Leveraging Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) environments will be central to your validation strategy. You will utilize these powerful simulation tools to test system behavior under diverse and challenging grid conditions, identifying potential issues and optimizing performance in a controlled setting. Your expertise in these simulation frameworks will be key to accelerating the development cycle and ensuring product quality.
- • You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, hardware engineers, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration and validation of system components. Your ability to communicate technical findings clearly and effectively will be essential for driving improvements and resolving complex issues.
- • The role demands a deep understanding of power electronics, control theory, and grid integration principles. You will apply this knowledge to analyze system performance, troubleshoot complex problems, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our power system designs.
- • You will be involved in the entire product development lifecycle, from initial concept and design through to validation and deployment. This end-to-end involvement provides a unique opportunity to see the direct impact of your work on delivering clean, reliable energy solutions.
- • Your responsibilities will extend to developing and maintaining automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines to streamline the validation process. This includes scripting and utilizing tools to enhance efficiency, repeatability, and accuracy in testing procedures.
- • You will analyze test results, generate detailed reports, and provide actionable recommendations for design modifications or performance enhancements. This data-driven approach ensures that our systems are not only compliant but also optimized for efficiency and longevity.
- • The position requires a proactive and analytical mindset, with a strong ability to identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies early in the development process. Your contributions will be vital in maintaining the high standards of quality and innovation that define 1st Avenue Power.
- • You will contribute to the technical roadmap for system integration and validation, staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices to ensure our testing methodologies remain cutting-edge.
- • This role offers a unique opportunity to work on transformative clean energy technology, contributing directly to a sustainable future and addressing the growing global demand for reliable, clean power. You will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to innovation and excellence in the renewable energy sector.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of professional experience in systems integration, hardware validation, or product development within the power electronics or utility industry.
- • Deep expertise in Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulation environments (e.g., Typhoon HIL, RTDS, Opal-RT) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) frameworks.
- • Strong technical knowledge of Low Voltage (LV)/Medium Voltage (MV) grid integration, transformer performance, and utility-scale power distribution.
- • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, with a focus on Power Systems and Control Theory.
- • Proven experience in defining and managing technical requirements for large utility-scale renewable energy systems.
- • Experience with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus TCP, CAN, and Ethernet.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive Compensation Package including salary, equity, and benefits.
- • Remote Flexibility with limited travel (5-15%) to sites as needed.
- • Comprehensive Health Insurance: 100% employer-paid premiums for a Gold-level PPO medical plan.
- • Dental & Vision Insurance: 50% employer contribution towards employee premiums.
- • Retirement Plan: 401(k) with a generous 6% employer match.
