Tax Manager - Individual Tax (Internal Tax Team)

📋 Description

• • Serve as the trusted personal tax advisor to approximately 75 Baker Tilly Partners, delivering full-cycle US individual tax services that include preparation, planning and strategic consulting for high-net-worth individuals.
• • Own the end-to-end client experience—acting as the single point of contact, scheduling engagements, gathering data, preparing and reviewing complex federal and multi-state individual returns, and presenting actionable tax-saving strategies that align with each Partner’s personal and business goals.
• • Lead multiple concurrent engagements from kickoff through delivery, ensuring every return is technically accurate, fully documented and filed on time while proactively identifying opportunities to reduce effective tax rates, optimize cash flow and mitigate risk.
• • Perform rigorous technical review of intricate Forms 1040, 1041, K-1s, gift-tax returns and all supporting schedules, applying the latest federal, state and local developments to multi-state filings that often involve composite returns, withholding and pass-through entity-level taxes.
• • Translate complex legislative changes—such as SALT cap work-arounds, QSBS planning, or trust and estate strategies—into clear, concise recommendations that Partners can act on quickly, supported by detailed memoranda and scenario modeling.
• • Drive year-round advisory projects that extend beyond compliance: estimated tax projections, stock-option timing, charitable-giving structures, real-estate cost segregation, private-equity exit planning and family-office succession strategies.
• • Champion Baker Tilly’s Care and Teach philosophy by mentoring and counseling associates, delegating work that accelerates their growth, reviewing their deliverables and providing real-time feedback that elevates quality and confidence.
• • Leverage advanced technology daily—CCH Axcess, PDFlyer and the full Microsoft 365 suite—to automate data ingestion, streamline workflow and create dynamic dashboards that give Partners real-time visibility into their tax position.
• • Collaborate seamlessly with other Baker Tilly service lines—Private Client Advisory, Family Office, Investment Advisory and International Tax—to deliver a holistic, firm-wide approach that anticipates every dimension of a Partner’s financial life.
• • Participate in firm-wide learning and development programs, national technical webinars and industry conferences to keep technical skills sharp, maintain credentials and share insights that raise the bar for the entire practice.
• • Contribute to practice growth by identifying additional service needs within existing client relationships, drafting proposals and presenting solutions that deepen engagement and expand revenue.
