- • Wisp is on a mission to revolutionize sexual and reproductive healthcare by making it accessible, convenient, and stress-free for patients nationwide. Since our founding in 2018, we have been dedicated to empowering individuals to take control of their health decisions. As part of the WELL Health family, we are experiencing rapid growth and are seeking passionate, results-oriented individuals to join our fully-remote team in the United States. If you are driven by a desire to build something impactful, thrive in an environment that fosters high levels of ownership and accountability, and are eager for personal and professional growth, we want to hear from you.
- • We are actively searching for a Technical Lead, Software Engineering to become an integral part of our engineering team. This pivotal role bridges our product and engineering departments, playing a key part in shaping and influencing company-wide priorities. You will be instrumental in building and enhancing products that directly empower our patients, ensuring their needs and well-being are at the forefront of every technical decision.
- • This position is a hands-on role, requiring a significant commitment to coding. You will be expected to contribute directly to the codebase for at least 60-70% of your time. The remaining 30% will be dedicated to providing essential day-to-day guidance to your team, removing technical roadblocks, and elevating the overall quality of engineering output. This includes formally managing and mentoring 1-2 direct reports, fostering their growth and ensuring high standards are met.
- • **Build For Our Patients:** A core tenet of this role is to maintain a patient-centric approach in all technical endeavors. This means not only implementing features but also deeply considering and advocating for patient privacy, security, and equitable access to care. You will be responsible for connecting technical work directly to tangible patient outcomes, ensuring that every line of code contributes to a better healthcare experience.
- • **Technical Execution & Architectural Vision:** You will play a crucial role in shaping our technical direction by contributing to architectural decisions and establishing robust technical standards. This will be achieved through rigorous code reviews, engaging in thoughtful design discussions, and consistently delivering high-quality, well-tested code. A key responsibility is to strike an effective balance between the need for rapid development and the imperative of building reliable, well-structured, and extensible solutions that can scale with our growing user base.
- • **Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication:** This role demands strong collaboration skills. You will partner closely with Product Managers, Designers, and other key stakeholders to bring complex projects to fruition. Effective communication is paramount; you will be expected to articulate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, proactively identify potential risks, and contribute to a shared understanding of project goals and challenges.
- • **Technical Leadership & Strategic Influence:** Beyond day-to-day coding and team support, you will actively identify opportunities for improvement within your team's scope of work. You will contribute significantly to technical discussions that help shape project direction and long-term strategy. Your ability to influence peers and stakeholders, build consensus around technical approaches, and successfully land technical strategies will be critical to the team's success.
- • **Mentorship, Knowledge Sharing & Quality Assurance:** As a Technical Lead, you will serve as a vital technical resource and a role model for other engineers on the team. You will foster a culture of learning and continuous improvement by sharing knowledge through clear, concise documentation and insightful code reviews. Providing timely guidance, supporting engineers in overcoming challenges, and actively maintaining high-quality standards across all engineering deliverables are key aspects of this leadership responsibility.
- • **End-to-End Delivery & Operational Excellence:** You will take ownership of the end-to-end delivery of key projects, driving excellence in architecture, code quality, performance, and operational stability. This includes ensuring that solutions are not only functional but also performant, scalable, and maintainable in a production environment.
- • **Pragmatic Decision-Making:** We value engineers who can make pragmatic technical decisions. This involves skillfully balancing competing priorities such as development speed, scalability requirements, and long-term maintainability. Your ability to provide clear direction and unblock teams will be essential for maintaining momentum and achieving project milestones.
- • **Impactful Work in a Growing Company:** Join a dynamic, fast-paced environment where your contributions will have a direct and significant impact on the lives of our patients. Wisp is committed to fostering a collaborative problem-solving culture, creating high-quality, user-centric products, and making a real difference in the landscape of sexual and reproductive healthcare.
