- • The Technical Operations Specialist (TOPS) role at Interactive Brokers is critical to ensuring the stability, performance, and reliability of the company’s global brokerage systems, which serve clients across more than 200 countries and territories. As part of a 24/7/365 operations team, the specialist plays a frontline role in maintaining the integrity of trading infrastructure, directly impacting client experience and market access for individual investors, institutions, and financial advisors worldwide.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring the health of applications, networks, and systems that underpin Interactive Brokers’ global trading platform; analyzing, troubleshooting, escalating, and resolving operational issues in real time; participating in post-incident reviews with software development, customer service, and infrastructure teams to drive continuous improvement; providing second-level technical support to internal teams; monitoring batch-scheduled jobs and addressing delays or failures; analyzing business workflows and contributing to the development of new process monitoring tools; acting as the primary escalation point for all brokerage system technical issues; and investigating and triaging real-time trade issues with internal and external stakeholders.
- • The TOPS team operates within Interactive Brokers’ Technology division, supporting a culture of innovation and operational excellence rooted in over four decades of financial technology leadership. Based in Vancouver, BC, this hybrid role (4 days in office, 1 day remote) offers the opportunity to work within a multinational team dedicated to delivering cutting-edge, low-latency trading solutions through advanced automation, rigorous monitoring, and proactive incident management.
- • In this role, the specialist will develop deep expertise in financial systems operations, gain hands-on experience with Linux-based environments and scripting technologies, and strengthen analytical and incident response capabilities in a high-stakes, fast-paced setting. The position fosters growth in both technical and financial domains, enabling the individual to build a robust foundation for advancement into senior operations, systems engineering, or technology leadership roles within the firm.

- • Bachelor’s degree in a financial or technical discipline
- • Strong communication skills and fluency in English
- • Working knowledge of general computing and networking concepts
- • Experience working with Linux operating systems
