Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Lead end-to-end execution of catalysis validation programs, including campaign sequencing, external partner SOWs, sample logistics, data ingestion timelines, and milestone tracking against customer and vertical commitments.
  • • Manage relationships and deliverables with external validation partners such as high-throughput experimentation labs, abatement OEMs, sensor manufacturers, precursor suppliers, and equipment OEMs, including contracting, deliverable acceptance, and renew/expand/exit recommendations.
  • • Coordinate internal hand-offs between Research Scientists, Computational/ML Scientists, Data Generation teams, and Platform Engineering to ensure validation results are captured, fed back into Large Quantitative Models (LQMs), and inform subsequent campaign cycles.
  • • Operationalize the design-test-make-deploy pipeline for catalysis, establishing data governance, provenance, and reproducibility standards aligned with regulatory and customer reporting expectations.
  • • Drive trade-offs between risk, schedule, and resources in collaboration with the Vertical Lead and Product teams, escalating critical decisions to AISim leadership when necessary.
  • • Develop and maintain operational cadence for experimental campaigns, ensuring alignment across computational modeling, machine learning, and experimental validation workflows.
  • • Translate complex technical results into executive and external narratives that meet compliance-grade reporting standards for government, regulated industry, or large enterprise customers.
  • • Build scalable processes and metrics to convert promising technical discoveries into validated industrial outcomes in high-purity chemical production, emissions treatment, and advanced sensing applications.
  • • Serve as a key operational partner to senior scientific leadership, enabling rapid decision-making, cross-functional alignment, and scalable execution of catalysis programs.
  • • Ensure all program activities comply with U.S. Government contractual requirements, including documentation, reporting, and data handling protocols.
  • • Support the scaling of validation infrastructure from project-specific engagements to repeatable, platform-level workflows that support broader commercialization goals.
  • • Maintain technical fluency in catalysis, materials science, or chemical engineering to critically evaluate experimental plans and interpret high-level results.
  • • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate machine-learned force fields, DFT-derived datasets, or other computational catalysis workflows into validation pipelines.
  • • Uphold SandboxAQ’s culture of creativity, collaboration, and impact by fostering a disciplined yet agile operational environment for scientific innovation.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 8+ years managing applied R&D or scientific validation programs, ideally at the intersection of computational and experimental workflows
  • • Hands-on experience coordinating multi-party experimental validation campaigns (industrial labs, university partners, OEM testbeds), including SOW negotiation and sample/data logistics
  • • Technical fluency in catalysis, materials science, or chemical engineering sufficient to challenge experimental plans and interpret high-level results
  • • Track record of running compliance-grade reporting cadences (government, regulated industry, or large enterprise customer) and translating technical results into executive and external narratives
  • • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field; advanced degree strongly preferred
  • • Must be a U.S. Person (Permanent Resident or Citizen) due to U.S. Government contractual requirements

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience, plus equity and performance-based incentives
  • • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) with company match; generous parental leave
  • • Flexible hybrid work arrangements, generous PTO, and a culture that respects focus time and recovery
  • • Direct exposure to CHIPS Act-funded programs, senior scientific and executive leadership, mentorship, and dedicated learning budgets for professional growth
