Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • As a Technical Program Manager embedded in Deepgram’s Research organization, you will serve as the critical bridge between pioneering voice AI research and real-world product delivery, ensuring that breakthroughs in Latent Space Models (LSMs) and other foundational research translate into shipped features for Deepgram’s industry-leading speech-to-text and text-to-speech platforms used by over 200,000 developers and 1,300+ organizations.
- • You will own end-to-end delivery of complex, multi-team technical programs spanning STT and TTS model development, data pipeline enhancements, and evaluation infrastructure, coordinating tightly across Research, Product, DataOps, and Engineering to define scope, manage timelines, mitigate risks, and drive meaningful milestones that turn experimental research into production-grade voice AI systems.
- • You will define and champion lightweight, adaptive processes that bring visibility and accountability to research workflows without stifling scientific creativity, enabling researchers to focus on innovation while ensuring cross-functional alignment and predictable delivery cadence in a fast-paced, AI-first environment where priorities shift rapidly.
- • You will map dependencies and risks across concurrent research and development initiatives, maintain a real-time view of project health, and proactively communicate status, blockers, and tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders — from individual contributors to executive leadership — ensuring transparency and informed decision-making at all levels.
- • You will build trusted, collaborative relationships across Research, Product, DataOps, and Engineering teams, acting as a servant leader who holds teams accountable to shared goals while resolving blockers quickly, fostering psychological safety, and reinforcing Deepgram’s culture of experimentation, AI-first thinking, and continuous learning.
- • You will develop deep technical credibility by engaging meaningfully with ML researchers and engineers on model training, data pipelines, evaluation methodologies, and serving tradeoffs, allowing you to anticipate technical challenges, ask insightful questions, and make informed prioritization decisions that balance scientific rigor with delivery urgency.
- • You will grow your expertise in cutting-edge voice AI technologies, including latent space models, audio compression, generative modeling, and multimodal systems, while honing your ability to lead complex technical programs in a high-impact, fast-moving AI organization backed by $215M in funding and strategic partners like NVIDIA, Tiger Global, and Y Combinator.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of experience as a Technical Program Manager or Engineering Program Manager, with proven success delivering complex, multi-workstream technical programs in AI/ML or research-intensive environments
- • In-depth working knowledge of machine learning systems, including data pipelines, model training, evaluation, and serving, enabling effective collaboration with researchers and engineers on technical tradeoffs
- • Demonstrated ability to map cross-functional dependencies and technical risk across concurrent projects, with clear, proactive communication of status and blockers to stakeholders at all levels
- • Experience designing and implementing lightweight processes that improve execution velocity and accountability in research or engineering settings without adding bureaucratic overhead
- • Strong analytical skills for evaluating program health, identifying bottlenecks early, and making data-informed prioritization decisions
- • Excellent communication skills, capable of delivering crisp updates to senior leadership and clear, actionable direction to technical teams
🏖️ Benefits
- • Holistic health benefits including medical, dental, vision, mental health support, and life/STD/LTD income insurance plans
- • Work-life blend perks such as unlimited PTO, generous paid parental leave, flexible schedule, 12 paid US company holidays, quarterly personal productivity stipend, and one-time home office upgrade stipend
- • Continuous learning opportunities via learning/education stipends, conference participation, employee resource groups, and AI enablement workshops
- • 401(k) plan with company match and tax savings programs to support long-term financial wellness
