- • Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing optimization of transaction monitoring systems to detect and prevent fraudulent activity across LATAM markets.
- • Oversee a team of analysts responsible for reviewing high-risk transactions, investigating alerts, and escalating suspicious activity to compliance and legal teams.
- • Collaborate with risk, compliance, and engineering teams to enhance detection rules, reduce false positives, and improve system accuracy.
- • Ensure all transaction monitoring processes comply with local financial regulations and international AML/KYC standards applicable in LATAM countries.
- • Analyze transaction patterns and emerging fraud trends specific to emerging markets in Latin America to proactively adjust monitoring parameters.
- • Develop and maintain detailed documentation of monitoring protocols, investigation workflows, and escalation procedures.
- • Conduct regular audits of transaction monitoring outputs to validate system performance and ensure regulatory readiness.
- • Provide training and mentorship to junior analysts on fraud detection techniques, regulatory requirements, and system tools.
- • Interface with global compliance teams to align LATAM monitoring strategies with corporate-wide risk frameworks.
- • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on fraud metrics, alert volumes, resolution rates, and system effectiveness.
- • Work closely with payment processors, banks, and third-party vendors to gather intelligence on regional fraud tactics and adapt monitoring accordingly.
- • Participate in cross-functional incident response teams during high-profile fraud events or regulatory inquiries.
- • Stay current on evolving financial crime trends in LATAM, including money laundering, chargeback fraud, and synthetic identity schemes.
- • Identify opportunities to automate manual review processes through collaboration with data and engineering teams.
- • Maintain strict confidentiality and data integrity when handling sensitive customer and transaction information.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience leading transaction monitoring or fraud detection teams in financial services or payments industry
- • Deep understanding of AML/KYC regulations and compliance frameworks in LATAM countries
- • Hands-on experience with transaction monitoring systems (e.g., Actimize, SAS, FICO) and fraud analytics tools
- • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex transaction data and identify patterns indicative of fraud
- • Experience working with cross-border payment flows and emerging market payment ecosystems
- • Fluency in Spanish and Portuguese; English proficiency required for global team collaboration
