  • As a Digital Reporter/Logger, you will play a crucial role in capturing the verbatim record of legal proceedings, ensuring accuracy and professionalism in every assignment.
  • This role involves attending hearings either in person or remotely, meticulously recording and logging the events as they unfold.
  • You will be responsible for the transportation and setup of advanced digital recording equipment at various venues, ensuring all technical aspects are handled efficiently and effectively.
  • A key aspect of your role will be managing the recording and logging process, adhering strictly to agreed-upon timescales and proactively seeking support when necessary to maintain workflow.
  • Excellent communication skills are paramount, requiring you to interact professionally and appropriately with colleagues, clients, and venue staff to uphold eScribers’ contractual obligations and maintain the highest service standards.
  • You will be instrumental in building and nurturing strong relationships with clients and host venues, fostering a collaborative environment that ensures the smooth operation of hearings and facilitates the seamless transfer of information required for producing high-quality transcripts.
  • A fundamental understanding of court proceedings and basic legal terminology is essential for accurately logging and reporting on the events.
  • You will be expected to provide an exceptional level of customer service and support to all stakeholders involved, ensuring a positive and efficient experience.
  • A critical part of the role involves identifying and troubleshooting common technical issues that may arise with the recording equipment or software, demonstrating a proactive and problem-solving approach.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and unwavering accuracy are non-negotiable, as the integrity of the legal record depends on your precision.
  • eScribers offers competitive daily rates for this freelance position, reflecting the importance and skill required for the role.

  • You will have the opportunity to work with a growing community of dedicated professionals who are passionate about providing high-quality reporting services.
  • The role requires flexibility, as legal proceedings can sometimes extend beyond scheduled times, necessitating adaptability and good time management.
  • You will be expected to maintain discretion and uphold the highest level of confidentiality regarding all proceedings and client information.
  • Problem identification and resolution skills are vital for navigating the dynamic environment of court reporting.
  • While previous experience as a Digital Reporter/Logger is advantageous, eScribers is open to considering candidates with transferable skills and a strong aptitude for the role.

  • You will be required to undergo a comprehensive onboarding process, which includes an aptitude test, interviews, documentation submission, contract completion, system setup, and a BPSS check (including a Criminal Records Check).
  • Familiarisation with eScribers’ proprietary equipment and software will be a key part of the onboarding and ongoing development.
  • As a freelancer, you will submit invoices for completed work and be compensated via direct deposit, with the understanding that work volume can fluctuate.
  • Priority for work assignments will be given to reporters who consistently maintain excellent quality standards.
  • This is a freelance, remote position, but requires the candidate to be based in London with easy access to Central London areas such as Canary Wharf, Kennington, and Farringdon, as in-person attendance at hearings may be required.
  • The ability to travel to other locations within the UK, including Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, and Manchester, potentially involving overnight stays, would be a significant advantage.
  • You will be expected to be smart and well-presented when attending hearings in person.
  • Maintaining a calm demeanor under pressure is essential, particularly when dealing with technical challenges or time constraints.
