- • As an Underwriter at Allica Bank Ltd, you will play a critical role in supporting the growth of the UK’s fastest-growing fintech by assessing and approving loan applications for established SMEs, a vital yet underserved segment of the economy, ensuring responsible lending that aligns with the bank’s risk appetite and strategic goals.
- • You will manage the full lifecycle of credit applications from initial enquiry to drawdown, including underwriting commercial mortgages, investment loans, business loans, and overdrafts ranging from £150K to £20M, using credit data, analytical tools, and AI to make sound, compliant recommendations while liaising with solicitors, valuers, brokers, and relationship managers.
- • You will produce clear, accurate documentation for credit decisions, escalate exceptions to appropriate authorities, monitor ongoing risk controls, and ensure full compliance with regulatory standards (TCF, AML, KYC) and internal policies, while contributing to MI/KPI development and process improvement initiatives.
- • You will build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams (distribution, operations, senior management) and external partners (brokers, valuers, solicitors), delivering excellent service in line with Allica Bank’s customer experience standards and values.

🎯 Requirements
- • Significant experience in underwriting loan applications from a bank, building society, or financial institution, with direct exposure to UK SME customers and loan sizes ranging from £150K to £20M.
- • Proven ability to analyse financial accounts, budgets, and cashflow forecasts, supported by strong credit/financial analysis skills and understanding of loan underwriting risks and processes.
- • Experience in escalating and presenting cases at Credit Committee level and in Arrears Management, along with familiarity with regulatory requirements including TCF, AML, KYC, and Conduct risk.
