Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the end-to-end US import process for Arista Networks’ multi-million-dollar hardware and software shipments, acting as the single point of accountability between our global supply chain, customs brokers, freight forwarders, and US Customs & Border Protection (CBP).
- • Serve as the day-to-day operator and strategist for all customs brokerage activities—reviewing entry packets, validating HTS classifications, confirming country-of-origin declarations, and ensuring every shipment clears within Arista’s aggressive “dock-to-stock” service-level agreements.
- • Classify complex networking equipment, semiconductors, and software licenses under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) with subheading-level accuracy; maintain a living database of rulings, engineering change notices, and product lifecycle updates to keep classifications evergreen.
- • Run monthly self-assessments against CBP’s Prior Disclosure, Focused Assessment, and Importer Self-Assessment (ISA) criteria; document gaps, own root-cause analyses, and drive cross-functional corrective actions with Logistics, Engineering, and Finance teams.
- • Govern the performance of our contracted customs brokers through KPI dashboards (entry accuracy, on-time filing, post-entry amendments, PGA holds); negotiate service-level improvements, conduct quarterly business reviews, and escalate systemic issues to senior leadership.
- • Monitor the Federal Register, CBP CSMS messages, and partner government agency (PGA) bulletins for changes to Section 232, AD/CVD, FCC, FDA, and FWS regulations; translate regulatory updates into actionable process changes and system requirements within 48 hours of publication.
- • Prepare and submit responses to CBP Form 28 (Request for Information) and Form 29 (Notice of Action) within statutory deadlines; coordinate with Legal and Tax teams to defend valuation methodologies, related-party pricing, and first-sale claims when challenged.
- • Administer the USCBP ACE Portal—create and maintain ACE accounts, manage bond sufficiency, file post-entry amendments, monitor quota status, and generate monthly ACE reports for duty optimization and reconciliation entries.
- • Lead Arista’s transition to Canada’s CARM (CBSA Assessment and Revenue Management) portal; map current-state import workflows, configure CARM Release 2 functionality, and train Canadian operations teams on new billing and accounting processes.
- • Build and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and training decks for import compliance; deliver quarterly lunch-and-learn sessions to internal stakeholders and external partners to foster a culture of shared accountability for trade compliance.
- • Partner with Arista’s Product Security and Engineering teams to identify encryption-controlled items, obtain CCATS classifications, and file SNAP-R licenses when required; ensure ITAR/EAR dual-use regulations are embedded in new-product introduction (NPI) gates.
- • Drive continuous-improvement projects—automated HTS lookup tools, broker EDI integration, duty-drawback programs, and free-trade-agreement qualification workflows—that reduce landed cost, cycle time, and compliance risk.
- • Represent Arista in industry working groups (e.g., SIA, CTPAT Trade Compliance Best Practices Subcommittee) to influence policy and benchmark leading practices; feed insights back into Arista’s global trade strategy.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3–5 years of hands-on US import operations experience, including HTS classification, PGA clearances, and ACE portal management
- • Demonstrated knowledge of CBP regulations, Section 232/AD/CVD, and at least two PGAs (FCC, FDA, FWS, or USDA)
- • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP) and ERP trade modules (SAP GTS, Oracle GTM, or similar)
- • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, International Business, or related field—or equivalent combination of education and experience
- • Customs Broker License or pursuit thereof (LCB exam passed or scheduled within 12 months)
- • Experience supporting Canadian imports and familiarity with CARM portal (nice-to-have)
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote work environment with quarterly team off-sites in Silicon Valley or Vancouver
- • Annual professional-development stipend of $3,500 for trade certifications (LCB, CCS, NEI), conferences, and continuing-education courses
- • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage effective day one, plus 401(k) with 4% company match
- • Flexible PTO policy and company-wide shutdown between Christmas and New Year’s Day
